......does anyone out there have any experience with the captioned airgun?

the first one i purchased wouldn't group, so i sent it back for another one. it won't group either. i've tried changing scopes, cleaning it, shooting form a rest, shooting without a rest, etc, etc, but no luck. i've tried about every brand of pellet i can find also.

any suggestions from u pellet gun guys?
 
Use the artillery hold. Make sure the scope is on tight or get a better scope. For ammo, it isn't just brand, it's also weight. Most importantly, what groups are you expecting at what distance? Outdoor or indoor?
 
Barrel may need re-crowning. Check the muzzle with a q-tip. If it snags on burrs, polish it up with a brass machine screw in a drill with some valve lapping compound. Crosmans are prone to having this problem.
 
Is it new? Most pellet guns need to have a couple hundred shots through them in order to settle down. I would advise that you use the cheapest pellets possible to do this :) After that, try a few different pellets. he most expensive are not always the best shooting out of a particular gun. My dad has a Diana 350 Magnum, and it shoots best with el cheapo crosman premier hollowpoints. My PAL rated crosman phantom likes the REALLY cheap, crappy quality, inconsistent looking daisy powermax pellets.

the scope that came with it was a 3x9 centerpoint. when i complained about the accuracy, they sent me a new gun, so i put a 4x12 bushnell dusk to dawn on it.

like i mentioned in my initial post, i've tried probably 15 different types of pellets in it, but none work.

i don't think i'm expecting too much in thinking it should shoot an inch @ 15/20 yds am i?

i like the thought about the barrel crown.......i'll check it out and let u guys know if it works.

though i'm definitely not a newbie to shooting sports, this airgun is a first for me, and i must say VERY frustrating. i've heard that even if u can shoot excellent groups with a firearm, pellet guns do not necessarily follow.

It really needs to be broken in first. Any residual oil in the chamber from the factory will diesel and produce inconsistent results. also, you have to give the seals a chance to soften up a bit, and all the movign parts to wear a bit and smooth out. Made in china crosmans sometimes have issues with finish and rough/sharp/burred edges on the stamped parts.
 
My .22 Phantom is a tack driver . It was pretty good out of the box. Changed the spring and piston to a 800 fps and now it's a powerhouse to boot. Groups really well with the cheapest Tasco scope, just don't know how long the scope is going to last on it.
I use Daisy hollow points.

.....haven't had time to check the muzzle, but i don't think the amount of shots thru it will be the issue, as i've already shot over a thousand rounds thru it.

They advertise the tac 1 extreme (a phantom with a full power spring and pston) as being 800fps, but it's a little under that. There's a guy on the canadian airgun forum that tested a phantom with new springs, shims, plugging bleeder holes, etc, and he was able to push it to shoot consistently at about 710fps, though the spring would break after less than 50 shots :)
 
An inch group at 15-20 yards is not unrealistic, but it's not easy, too. Crosman's own site states 0.9inch 5 shot groups with 14.3grain wadcutters from 25 yards. Keep in mind this is the companies site so ymmv. This doesn't mean I doubt that it is possible to achieve these groups, it'll just require skill and getting to know your rifle. Airguns can be finicky #####es and firearms skills don't translate well at all with spring/gas piston airguns because of double recoil. Since this is your first air rifle, it's a little unrealistic to except that type of accuracy. To sum up, don't be too quick to blame the tool when it's the shooter who needs the tuning.

Actually it broke after almost 1300 shots. But whose counting.

.......though i don't know what the actual velocity of this rifle is, i do know it knocks hell out of gophers and crows (when i can hit 'em)

this summer, i took three crows with three shots out of a tree in my back yard. i think two were young uns and one was an adult, but not one of 'em argued.

it will shoot right through a gopher, and they don't argue either!

How bad are your groups? If the Crosman website only claims 0.9 inch groups at 25 yards, how poorly is your gun shooting?

I had some casual interest in one of these gas-piston guns, but if the best that even the manufacturer can claim is barely under 4 MOA I'll probably pass.

Also, results are open to interpretation. One man's tackdriver is another man's POS. No other owners of one of these guns to comment on them?
