I'm interested in hunting crows as a form of pest control and also to improve my shotgunning skills. The MNR website says that crows can be hunted but gives little information on the details.

I searched this forum but there's not much information. Has anybody here done this? What are the pros and cons?

I'm just east of Toronto.

Thanks for the feedback.

Never done it myself, but apparently a lot of guys do it in the off season to practice. I had been looking into it myself for the same reasons as you and it appears they have no closed season so as long as you have you small games license you can shoot away provided you comply with local by laws and such.
Lemme know if you need a partner!

Very exciting bird to hunt. Basically a shotgun target but may be "sniped" with varmint rifles. Smarter than any duck or goose, sharp eyesight and can turn on a dime. Pick up a quality crow call and learn the basics of calling. Thats the crow's weakness...they are aggessive, warlike at times and gregarious. Lots of info on the net. If you want to spend more cash buy a Foxpro. I use an FX3...bit still do not forget the fundamentals of hand calling. Study crow behavior and hunt where the crows want to be. No limit or season. 25 bird shoots are not uncommon...hundreds are shot/day in the American Midwest where common crows winter in the millions. Good luck...and remember...crow shooting is very addictive.
