crown land

That and they're not much use as they're all full of water.

there are lots of pits around London that aren't full- they're all privately owned though, and even if they were crown, the municipal rules of discharge still apply.

OP your best bet is to join a club- learn from fellow shooters, enjoy the comradarie and never have to worry about the fuzz being on your tail

That's right, I said fuzz. :p

Gentlemen,

Can you please advise if it is allowed to practice target shooting (non-restricted) on Crown Land?

Cheers,

It is allowed. With some proviso's.

LE has advised me that firearms are to be cased and unloaded to and from the firing point.

Targets are to be posted before guns uncased.

A safe backstop is mandatory.

The 1/2 hour before/after sunrise/sunset hunting rules are strongly encouraged to be observed while target shooting.

PAL and paperwork avail. on demand.

Avoid Crown land target shooting during hunting season.

You'll likely have to sus out your own spot, and guard it's location too, as most most of us south/central Ontarians have had to, being this close to a Metropolis.

Silverdale

Bancroft, and Parry Sound are probably some of the closer places where you will find some crown land.

That said is it worth the drive?

Why not just come out to Silverdale, and drop me a PM when you do? LOL

I joined Silverdale back in the summer but have just gotten a new job and getting there hasn't been possible. I've never been to a range but obtained my PAL when dad decided he had no further need for his 22s. 12 ga., 30-06 and SKS are recent purchases but haven't had a chance to try any of them yet.

If there is a weekend that a knowledgeable club member might put up with a newbie at the range to get the basics down, I'd appreciate it.

Having trouble with this crown land thing!
BEST KEPT SECRET EVER!!!

I am located in the god for saken GTA (New to the area, not guns! )

Just wondering on the "Crown Land Use Policy Atlas" if the beige "General Use Area" means I would be allowed to shoot on this land providing I check with municipality to ensure there is no bylaw against discharging a fire arm in that area?

can anyone shed light on this? I'm sure it will help alot of us!

I've had good results over the phone with the MNR.

Even better person to person in a local detachment/office.
