Hi, I am having trouble interpreting the Ontario Crown land maps, I tried to get in contact with some municipal offices to see if I could get my hands on one of their maps but couldn't get an answer.

Anyone have any tips for reading the Crown Land Use Policy Atlas? or know where else online I can find info? or suggest an area they may know? (i'm located in Toronto)

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

If you travel up through Bradford and take 11 north when it turns into hwy 88, just a couple KM up the road there is a billboard there that says "Crown Land is First Nations Land'

So I guess we have to ask them.....................................

well what do you want to know?

Where you can shoot?

Look for anything that isn't private land. Then call the local MNR in that area and ask them if there are any restrictions on that particular piece of land.

I know there's a bunch of crown land near Bancroft.

Generally nothing special - select zoom tool, click to zoom to specific area, change to information tool and click to desired place. In the right pane you will see report(s) of land use - open them and read the details about this area.

what mapping application are you referring to?

Can you be more specific? I go to bancroft once every few months I do belong to the range out there.. but if there's a crown land spot, I'd like to try it out.

This is kind of like asking a fisherman where the best spot to fish in his lake is. Most people like to keep their secret shooting spots secret lest someone show up and ruin it for him. Example, posting your best shooting pit here and showing up the next week-end and having to contend with 50 other shooters or someone trying to shoot a propane tank up. And then of course the next weekend there is a fence there because the locals complained to the authorities.
