I am not a hunter. I just got my very 1st shotgun - a Baikal MP-153, and I'm looking for a place to break it in. It requires heavy (1.25g or more) loads for the initial period of 100+ shells. I'd love to shoot some 3.5" shells, but they don't come in small shot sizes, like the 7.5 my gun club (I'm with Silverdale) allows at the sporting clays range. AFAIK, Silverdale only allows slugs to be fired at some other ranges.
My Dad has a cottage in Lagoon City near Brechin. He swears that there's some hunting going on there, so there must be crown land in the area. Is there a way to find out if I may put up targets in the nearby forrest & do some shooting at 20-30meters? I just don't want to get into trouble since I do not have a hunting licence & know absolutely nothing about these things. TIA.
