Crows

would you guys recomend a 20g with # 7 1/2 or a 12 with # 71/2 or a .22 Lr. Im thinking the 20g.

I have been successful with 11/4 ounce loads of 71/2's in both twenty and twelve guages. 22lr works well as well but I often have crows fly off even when noticeably hit unless I use a large hollow point like a Rem Yellow jacket. .223Rem, 22-250 etc all work very well also, although I usually miss too many this way.

Don't forget to dust any magpies or starlings you see as well:)

12 gauge trap loads, #7 1/2 or 8's... #9 skeet loads kill crows like you wouldn't believe as well. Fine shot and a IC or mod. choke is the ticket if you want to kill a lot of crows. They are not hard to kill but be well hidden as the trick is to initially get them in as close as possible.

I have killed the lions share of my crows with a modified choked 16 gauge, 2 1/2 dram 1oz. load of #8 shot.

geeze sorry for asking, everyone is new to this at some point.

I was only pointing out that every shooter should be 100% sure of what he/she is shooting at, particularily when one is legal and the other is not.
When you have to ask how to tell them apart, you should hold off on the hunting until you can distinguish which is which. Get out with your binocular and look some over, if you can.
No need to get huffy.

I use from #9 to # 2 depending on the set up area,I use a skeet choke same as for geese and it works great.

I believe crows and magpies are also carriers of the West Nile virus. We have a corral full of horses that are very susceptible, so my wife has a bounty on just about everything bigger than a sparrow.

wasnt getting huffy just saying you could perhaps contribute some advice as to how to distinguish between the too instead of just saying dont go out. I'm more interested in grackles and starlings anyways hate those goddamn things.

I had a crow that would constently dive attack me when I went out side.. if fixed his wagen with a baseball bat he went in and started his routine and got a suprize that I could reach him this time..

Crow Pie

1 crow
stuffing of your choice
salt and pepper
shortening
flour
2 Pie crust mixes
2-3 hard-boiled eggs

Stuff the crow. Loosen joints with a knife but do not cut through.
Simmer the crow in a stew-pan, with enough water to cover, until
nearly tender, then season with salt and pepper. Remove meat from
bones and set aside.

Prepare pie crusts as directed. (Do not bake)

Make a medium thick gravy with flour, shortening, and juices in
which the crow has cooked and let cool.

Line a pie plate with pie crust and line with slices of hard-boiled
egg. Place crow meat on top. Layer gravy over the crow. Place
second pie dough crust over top.

Bake at 450 degrees for 1/2 hour.
