Lots of comments about divisions and rifle selection. My advice is don't sweat the division you end up in. Buy and use the rifle you want to. Its all about running what you want and seeing where you need to improve. The goal is to go to a match and have a ton of fun ringing steel at distances and positions you are not used to. The guys who win with open guns will likely do very well and in most cases do equally well with production guns. Only in certain cases, when all else is equal, will the rifle/ammo determine the outcome. These matches require solid fundamentals, correct trajectory and wind reading skills first and then equipment. If you have not put more than several hundred rounds through your rifle in positional shooting (non on the bench) it will not really matter what equipment you use. So, buy what you like and shoot what you like and have fun. Proper practice and preparation will do more for your performance than the rifle you buy.
