CRPS Rifles and Loadout, Let's See Your Setups

Lots of comments about divisions and rifle selection. My advice is don't sweat the division you end up in. Buy and use the rifle you want to. Its all about running what you want and seeing where you need to improve. The goal is to go to a match and have a ton of fun ringing steel at distances and positions you are not used to. The guys who win with open guns will likely do very well and in most cases do equally well with production guns. Only in certain cases, when all else is equal, will the rifle/ammo determine the outcome. These matches require solid fundamentals, correct trajectory and wind reading skills first and then equipment. If you have not put more than several hundred rounds through your rifle in positional shooting (non on the bench) it will not really matter what equipment you use. So, buy what you like and shoot what you like and have fun. Proper practice and preparation will do more for your performance than the rifle you buy.

The rifle is a Savage MKII TRR-SR, with the factory boyds stock. I did a little custom paint job on the stock and sanded the barrel channel some more to make sure it was free floated under pressure.

It has a EGW 20 MOA base, with a SPUHR 4002 Mount, and a Kahles k312ii.

I get impacts out to 300 consistently as long as I do my part and read the wind! great shooter, Punches one ragged hole with Eley and SK match, all seem accurate. Settled on CCI Standard Velocity as it is cheap and still offers accuracy that is more then acceptable!

The issue everyone has is those flimsy Bottom Metals! I laser cut a 1/8th piece of stainless steel and paired it with a a Stainless Steel #6 1/2inch Robertson pan head screw to replace the existing screw. I can now torque the action screw without any issues. I have attached a picture with the old bottom metal on top of the new one to show the difference.

If anyone is interested in these please let me know, I might considering making some for others. They would be for the newer MkII / BTVSS and I believe they would only fit the wood stock (they would probably fit other stocks with some minor sanding, unless the older MkII's had different screw placement, as I used my OEM bottom metal for the measurements PM me if interested!!!.

We'll be emailing you the address with the course of fire Thursday night. Looking forward to the match.

Still waiting for two number four combination plates. Ur such a sandbagger. Fox in the bush that pounces at the last minute. Im impressed

Lol. It was a good day for me and my setup. The CZ457 with the IBI barrel and Athlon Midas Tac scope did not let me down. Winds were gentle and the day was sunny. You can't ask for much more than that. Thanks for coming out to the match. See you at Stittsville for the ORPS matches.

Jesus! That picture made my pants move!

Unfortunately I missed the IBI sale that Jerry had in Sept... Did you do the install yourself?

Yes. Ryan at IBI provided instructions. Borrowed a Go-NoGo-Field set from my LGS. It was a bit finicky but in the end got it sorted.
