For those of you who don't know, the awesome listeners of Canadian Reload Radio have been donating spare AR-15 parts to me in hopes of eventually donating a complete AR-15. Well lo-and-behold, they have succeeded! I had to pick up a few of the more expensive parts (lower receiver, barrel, and rear sight) but they came through with absolutely everything else. In fact, I even got doubles of some stuff and was even granted permission by some to sell the donated parts to help fund that parts I bought! Like I said, awesome listeners! :)

Anyway, I've been keeping track and logging the progress on YouTube and thought I'd share the videos here.

that's hilarious. I hadn't even made that connection, and I've read that story to my little girl a few times now.

We'll have to call it the stoner soup rifle....

My Grandpa told me that story abot stone soup over 40 years ago!

Learnt about stoner soup alot of years later!

Why not just go buy your own?

Why use people to get all your stuff for free?

Kinda lame when you think about it. Getting 'donations' for personal benefit as opposed to helping others.

rivetc78 - I think you are missing the point. The whole idea started out as a bit of a joke...but low and behold a bunch of listeners thought it would be fun to donate parts so that Matt would actually get an AR. Nobody twisted anybody's arm to send anything. Everybody did it of their own free will. There was never a hint of a promise that the rifle would be donated, or raffled or something else. Matt is actually pretty much stuck with that one now as the donators wanted him to have the parts for the build. He can't turn around and sell it or anything like that. The listeners made the donations because they wanted him to have it. I guess they fell mmatt is a good cause. So now we have one more EBR owner in Canada and that would not have been the case if the donations did not come through.

I am making some broad leaps here with regard to the motivations of the listeners who donated. I personally contributed nothing cause...well....screw mmatt. Laugh2

Speaking as one of the guys that happily donated parts to Matt build, he and his co hosts put out a weekly podcast about Canadian firearm culture for free.
Is that not helping others enough for you? I think you're kinda' lame for jumping to conclusions without finding out any facts about the build.

Dude. The whole thing started as a joke and guys ended up sending in free parts voluntarily. Nobody got used.

As for helping others he makes a weekly podcast to promote guns in Canada and does not get paid for it. He also takes new shooters out and helps people get into shooting.

Next time get some facts before you start slanging disrespect on people.

Episode #141, 1:39:~

I need to point out here, this was no joke. It was a spur of the minute idea on my part, which very quickly turned into a tangeable concept with parts coming together within a matter of weeks based soley on the fact that the Canadian gun community, including the CGN community, and specificallly the black rifle community that exists right here in this sub-forum recognized the hard work that Matthew alone, not to mention others, has put into single handedly doing more for Canadian gun rights in this country than 99.9999% of anyone else on this board.

By their own good grace, they looked into their spare parts bins, and said, "hey, I'm never really going to do anything with that part, whereas, if this is what it'll take to hear more AR-talk on my favourite podcast, and be apart of something special, then I'm in".

Canadian Reload Radio, and her network broadcasts are playing a big role in fighting for Canadian gun rights, and maybe, just maybe, some of the listeners saw this as a way to give back for some of the hard work we do. Matthew, in turn, recognizing their generosity, went to the effort to put together videos detailing the build and showing the progress so that others could see how fun it is to get into AR's and become one of the growing many. He asks for nothing, and when provided with something as fantastic as this, goes the extra mile in showing his appreciation.

It's clear, rivetc78 you don't listen, as you definitely wouldn't have leaned over your keyboard and vomited bile and vitriol towards Matthew if you were apart of the family that is fighting so hard so YOU can keep YOUR precious gun rights.

You don't have to listen. I can't change every single person's heart and mind and get them all on the same page, but, I only have to look at posts like yours to know that before we can fight our real opponents, we have to fight the garbage that has nothing better to do than sit on the internet and slag other people who only want to hang out with those of us who are into the same stuff as them.

Bravo. I'll keep you personally in mind this weekend and how important it is that I and my co-hosts fight for YOUR G-D rights while I present at the NFA AGM & Conference along side Dr. John Lott, Brian Lilley, Allan Korwin, Sheldon Clare, and all the other esteemed invited guests this weekend. I hope to see you there. You are attending and doing your part right?
