Long story short I bought a lantac dragon for my 556 rifle. It comes with a crush washer. My question is how many degrees are you suppose to go until it is properly torqued down. Or a better question would be can you over torque it. The instructions say 20 foot pounds but I dont have a torque wrench.
I put the crush washer on. added some frog lube to the threads of the muzzle then away I went. I hand tightened the muzzle device and when I was finished hand tightening it the ports were at the 6oclock position. Then i torqued her up until the ports were at the proper 12 position. That would be 90 degrees of torquing the device. However i noticed it was still "loose" and more torque could be added. Therefore I continued to torque her down another 180 degrees to bring the ports back up to the proper position. So thats a total of 270 degrees on that crush washer. Now shes snug as a bug but im just worried that perhaps I torqued it too much???
Thoughts?
