For the same reason that after Armalite produced the AR15 we now have a large number of AR15's from other manufacturers. Same thing for the 1911 pistols. The more the merrier.
Yeah, wood stocks would be nice.
I wonder how well the x39 will digest steel case ammo?
I heard the Ruger Mini30 can be finicky with surplus steel case?...kind of defeats the purpose of having it in x39 if it can't digest the less costly bulk ammo.
Judging by the weight it's an M-305 in 5.56X45 and 7.62X39. Assuming they have only done enough to change the design to have it function with the shorter cartridges, it's quite possible if it'll work with the M-305 it'll work with these. Impossible to say for sure until someone gets their paws on one.
As for how it looks...looks like an M-14. Who doesn't like an M-14?!?!?!?!?
These should sell like hotcakes! After all, the biggest problem with the Mini14 is the fact that it's a light, handy and reliable semi-auto .223 that handles like a typical rifle; judging by the guns that all the tacticool kids swoon over in Canada, what we need is another non-restricted .223 that costs at least twice as much as a M305 (four times as much would probably be even better...), gives indifferent accuracy (which of course is okay, since they're not meant to be accurate...or something like that...) and must weigh a minimum of 10 pounds.
It's that magical combination of high price, excessive weight and mediocre accuracy all wrapped up in a package that shoots an underpowered varmint cartridge that makes a gun a winner in this market!
