CSA 5.56 Firing pin

Well today I took my month old CSA 5.56 rifle to the range after installing the mag adaptor kit. Load a round and click. Do it again, click. Damn damn damn.

Field strip the rifle and look at the firing pin and low and behold I can't see it sticking out. Broken.

Where can I get a new one, will the bolt from my 858 7.62x39 rifle work, and how do I get the broken pin out to replace it with a new one when I get one?

Kind of looks like if I take a small pin punch and push it through the back of the carrier from the broken end.
 
Contact North Sylvia. They deal with the CSA warranty. This seems to be a significant issue with the 5.56 rifles as this is the 3rd post I've read in the last couple of weeks about the firing pin breaking.

Yeah, I've seen those reports also. I have never had a firing pin break before. Seems kind of odd.

Wolverine emailed me back right away to let me know that they were in no way associated with CSA and to contact North Sylva. Hopefully they help.
 
If warranty wont touch it I got a spare for my 7.62 CZ from Wolverine. To get it out, you will need to depress the small plunger that press on the extractor, then the extractor lifts/drops out which will release the firing pin. Its a tricky manouver but thats how its done.
 
Not sure if the OP saw the last thread on this, but make sure you get the right firing pin. My replacement was too large too make it through the bolt face, had it turned down to fit. It seems to me the firing pin from 5.56 rifles is unique to that chambering. Best of luck!

Correct
Please do not attempt to swap out x39 part's out for it's counter part 556 bolt.
 
I had a gunsmith turn down the 7.62 firing pin to a smaller diameter and then polish it up. Works like a charm now. Watching him do the work, he had to machine the portion that actually protrudes through the bolt face as well as the "shoulder" behind it. I would probably modify the firing pin before modding the bolt itself.
 
Soooo I heard back from North Sylva. They are aware of a problem with the firing pins on these rifles and are working with CSA on a fix. A new design is in the works and after testing should be out sometime in May. For my inconvience they offered me some goodies and advised me to buy an extra when they come out. They are covered under the five year warranty and will be covered for breakage.

Kind of sucks that I have to wait so long, but hopefully it will be a non issue in the end. I have never had a firing pin break before.
 
just found this thread. Funny, my first restricted rifle was a vz58 bought from marstar years ago. I think I was only 18/19 at the time. Came in the mail with a broken firing pin. It was the saddest day of my life. they obviously replaced it the same week! but i thought i had a fluke, till last week a CGN member called me saying he broke his on his CSA. I had totally forgot about this.
 
Well I got an unexpected phone call from North Sylva yesterday. New firing pins are on the way along with some other goodies that they are throwing in. Excellent service from North Sylva. They responded to all my emails very quick. Good job.
Spare firing pins will be available for nine bucks, which in the grand scheme of things is pretty reasonable.
