CSA Non-Restricted Questions

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could please explain to me what the differences are between the CSA non-restricted Vz 58's North Sylva is bringing in versus the standard CZ 858's?

Does the CSA's have the tab welded in which helps to stop the gremlin we hear about? I understand this is done on the other CSA models.

Is the receiver thicker then the CZ 858 so it is safe to put a scope mount on it like the other CSA's?

Where can you buy them from? I have looked up North Sylva but there website seemed under construction and there was no purchasing section. Are there any websites selling these and/or any stores selling these in the Calgary area?

Is there a way to tell if a particular 58 is a CSA and not CZ 858 being sold as a CSA, for example is it stamped differently or anything a long those lines?

Thanks for the help

There is another post just like this one, search for it as it has all the info you need.

I did search before I posted this and as far as I can see there is not a "post just like this one".

The only post which comes up that is similar is titled: "CSA 7.62x39 Non-Restricted Q's"

In that thread he asks:

So I've really been liking these rifles over the cz counterparts but I've still got two questions after all my searching...

1-are the non-restricted barrels chrome lined?
2-do the non-restricted variants of these rifles come with the factory installed side rails?

I really hope the answers are yes and yes so my red rifle family can grow a little bigger! Thanks in advance.:D

In response to these questions he is answered:

got bad news for ya , the answer is no and no with CSA from north sylva but your second question is no biggie cos the holes are there and all you have to do is order the rail.

As far as I can read, I do not see my questions being answered. I see him ask if the barrel is chrome lined, I did not ask that. I see him ask if the factory installed a side rail, I did not ask that either. What I did ask was if receiver was thicker then the CZ 858 so that is is safe to mount a side rile. This question is not answered, the person who responded simply said "the holes are there" but does not discuss if the receiver is thicker.

I don't see an explanation about what the main differences of these two rifles are. I don't see a question being asked or a response answering if the tab is welded in as with the other CSA rifles. I don't see any discussion about the thickness of the receiver. I don't see where you can purchase these rifles from. I also do not see an answer to my final question, which was how you can tell the difference between these two rifles.

While searching I found many post about the restricted CSA rifles and the rifles in 5.56 but I did not come across any threads which answered my questions in regards to the CSA non-restricted rifle is 7.62x39.

If I am not correct, then please feel free to correct me and point me in the right direction.

Thanks for the help

Well you are not searching hard enough. There was a thread 2 weeks or so ago with a lot of facted filled posts of the difference between the new CSA non and CZ's. If i find it I will post it for ya

I would appreciate that.

generally the same , some minor differences . the big differences are (some covered below) the furniture , price and accessories .

Does the CSA's have the tab welded in which helps to stop the gremlin we hear about? I understand this is done on the other CSA models.
yes but not having the tab in CZ858 shouldnt deter you from buying it cos it might not happen to you and if it did its an easy fix . i have 2 and my son has 1 and we had no issue.

yes and yes its safe but best to have a gunsmith do it properly (see VZ58 optic sticky for options).

Where can you buy them from? I have looked up North Sylva but there website seemed under construction and there was no purchasing section. Are there any websites selling these and/or any stores selling these in the Calgary area?
for your area , you'll have to call the gun stores , most of them deals with north sylva but first.

you need to read equipment exchange (ee) rules in the FAQ in the above blue bar and then on how to join , there you will find a couple of CGN dealers offering CSAs, send them a PM and see if they have non-res or they can bring one in for ya.

Is there a way to tell if a particular 58 is a CSA and not CZ 858 being sold as a CSA, for example is it stamped differently or anything a long those lines?
heh? very strange question, who would someone try to "bait and switch" a CZ858 for a CSA ? that would be fraud , we dont look kindly to that . ofcos the sides of the rifles will have the appropiate manufacturers name or model numbers also it would be on the registrations.

Thank you very much for the detailed reply Curtton.

As for the last question you responded to, the one you found "very strange", haha, I was born in Canada but I have and currently spend a lot of time overseas in countries where things of that nature are very common place so possibly that is why I asked.

Seeing as how I do not see a picture of the North Sylva imported CSA non-res in 7.62 I assume it looks the same as the 5.56 model which is number 12 just with the 7.62 mags?
