CSA v58 quality/accuracy

Ive had not one hiccup in my csa vz 58 in x39. Using Norinco non-corrosove it was as accurate as i needed it to be and went bang every time. The fact that they are 1400 new now is a bit crazy but I guess all the other rifles came up in price with it. I bought mine new for 800 in 2012.

Just another little tidbit. CSAs and CZs are a bit different.

CSA has drilled and tapped receiver for side-rail. CZ does not. All CSAs are new production.

Majority of CZs are parts guns, some of them are also converted automatics in the eyes of RCMP and are only allowed to exist by exemption (look for the wield line in the receiver where the auto sear goes).

CSAs have chrome lined chambers and barrels, NR CZs do not.

Good points. Keep in mind though some csa aren't chromelined you need to buy a chromelined model

My CSA sa58 in 223 now has around 7-8000 rounds through it. No issues as of yet. I've used it on yotes and it works well. I've shot it out to 400 with a side mount posp scope.

Your magnified optic choice will be very limited with a VZ/CZ. You can only put a short scope (4 to 6'') on the rear with the rail because the brass eject straight up, or put a scout scope. You can find a brass deflector that is put on the rear iron sight if you want to mount a longer optic but I have not seen one and I ahve no experience with them.

I've put over 8,000 rounds on my CSA Vz.58 (7.62x39mm) and had precisely zero issues. I find mine with a magnified optic to be about 2.5-3 MOA -- though I'm running it only with a RDS now as its a plinking/steel target rifle for me these days.

If anyone tried taking that rifle away I would put a round in them. Yeah, I like the rifle.

The CSA I owned had far better accuracy then the 858 I owned.. I think CSA has improved in recent years in general. Also prefer the modern finnish on the CSA.Aside from one having better accuracy, both functioned flawlessly in 7.62

Happy with all my 858s. Don't know what the optics fuss is about, as with the ammo choices, irons are just fine, for what really is the effective limited range of the round, IMHO. Even with my older eyes. One with an upgraded Dlask barrel that I got a great deal on. That will never be sold (nor will any of my rifles, really). No issues with any, no idea of round counts, at this time.

My BCL 102, nothing but smiles. Cheap surplus when I just want to bang steel, or poppers and other active targets. Runs any factory loads I have tried in it. Plan on adding more to the collection, soon.

Find what drills for you, and go for it.

Love my CSA 58 and had it out on a two hunting trips in the last month. Bought a bunch of Barnaul and fed it that so I didn't have to go through an elaborate cleaning routine. Broke down and cleaned the 58, 870 Wingmaster and A7 today. Favourite one to break down and easiest to remember was the 58 over the shottie.
