CSA version of the cz858 question

Actually, CSA is supposed to have brand new receivers and thicker walls than the CZ. Also, the "gremlin" has been remedied on this version. It is indeed more expensive for a reason, but it's up to you which to purchase. You can do a search or read the stickies for all the differences between each company's version of the VZ58 rifle.

That is food for thought

Thanks

So would anyone say that the CSA version in 7.62 worth the money.

I do have an 858 and have had no problems just have been thinking of getting a CSA in 7.62 as well non restricted of course but just not sure if they are worth the extra Dow.

Any help would be great

Cheers

I just got one of the short CSAs in 7.62. I really like it. Worth the extra, well, that's really personal preference, IMO. I wanted ridiculously short, so I didn't have any real choice.

I think the finish is definitely nicer compared to the CZs. That paint on the CZ is not very classy, if that matters to you. Also, remember you'll get only two mags if you go with the CSA. The CSA receiver is a slightly different design and supposedly Gremlin-proof, which may save some headaches. There are LOTS of CZs, and fewer CSAs, which means resale should be a bit better with the CSA. If I already had an NR CZ858, personally I'd probably go with something a little more different than the NR CSA, unless you're into building a collection.

If you buy a CSA watch out for mag fit probs, My best bud has a CSA and bought 4 extra mags for it and only 1 fit. So I traded him some ammo for them.

Also some parts will not fit on the CSA that are meant for the CZ/VZ, CSA copied the CZ design and changed it a bit so some parts just dont fit.

Correct. CSA's are gremlin fixed, have a nice matte black finish, the receiver is drilled and tapped for optic mounts, and they are available with a number of different stocks. Is it worth $200 more than the CZ858? That's for you to decide. The CSA is also available in .223, which is very nice for yotes.

Hey guys, sorry to ask such a stupid question, are the barrels on the NR 5.56 CSAs chrome lined? I would just like to double check and have a confirmation, I am going to look at one of these rifles after work. Thanks all.

How did they not fit? Many mags are a bit snug and need a touch of sandpaper on the sides to ease their fitment.

As for OP, fit and finish on my CSA 11.8" carbine are much nicer than the 858's I have seen. It is up to you if that is worth extra to you or not. I probably would have bought a shorty 858 for less if there was such an option available.
