Is there actually any difference between a CSA vz58 and a cz858? I've never had the chance to look inside a CSA, but they look the same externally

the only difference now is the cz858 except from the year 2005-2006 and some 2007 are all prohib that like 95% of them , the csa is a newly made receiver , cz surplus parts

CSA receiver is not military specification plus some dimensions are different. CSA finish looks nicer. High end dust cover scope mounts will not fit CSA rifles, regular dust cover scope mounts will work on both CSA and CZ. CZ 858/VZ 58 Ambi safety will not work as well and tactical bolt releases are getting chopped 4 times more often then on CZ 858

Can anyone shed some light on the problems the CSA's were having regarding broken fireing pins and cracked bolts. Have these been fixed? I am interested in buying one but would like to know if the problems are resolved before i throw down 1000 plus dollors. Thank you in advance.

that was mostly for the broken bolt because of a too big gaz port if im correct

If you look closely at the internals, CSA and CZ bolts are slightly different, and the insides of the lower receiver are slightly different in numerous areas. Not quite the same gun. I've found Cz guns to be more consistently reliable than CSA models, but that's just been my experience.

CSA 5.56 Model Gas porting issue would eject brass excessive distances and break your strike!

I'm on my second CSA VZ58 in 7.62x39, both have had oversized gas holes. First gun got replaced, second gun had the same issue but was caught by the warranty center so it's never been an issue so far.

As Martin said some aftermarket parts won't fit the CSA guns, others need a lot of fitting to make them work.

Right now CSA isn't prohib so that's the biggest difference.

It is nice to see a red gun other than an SKS or a Mosin discussed on here for a change. I had not heard that the CSA VZ 58's in 7.62x39 had gas port issues like the 5.56 ones did.

Mine CSA 7.62-39 broken bolt first time and cracked carrier second time all in less than 200 rounds. Second visit to movie arms now close to 500 rounds and no broken parts!!!! I think it was a gas port issue on mine.

I put 200-300 rounds through my CSA VZ58 last weekend and never had a single problem with it. I am still leery about the possible gremlins, but the warranty center is apparently top notch from what I have heard.

The CSA comes with the tabbed bolt carrier, thus it should not have THEE Gremlin. It may have others though such as has been stated by some of the other folks here. I have found my two CSA's to be very well made with a very nice fit and finish. My CZ858 was a nice gun too, but did not seem to have the finish the CSA's have. That gray/blue paint was really something else too. Nothing Duracoat won't fix.
