CSA VZ 58 , CZ 58 , CZ 858, VZ 58 ... whats the difference really?

I knew they did that with the 12.3s. I thought you were talking about a restricted or nonrestricted version.
I didn't know there were any 12.3 vz-58s in Canada though. Must be a pretty rare bird.

They had a couple of small steel blocks welded to the inside of the receiver in specific areas to prevent the installation of certain original unmodified trigger parts. The CSA or VZ58 has a new commercially manufactured receiver that is machined in such a way that the select fire trigger parts cannot be installed. All other parts ie. barrel, bolt, bolt carrier etc. appear to be the same. Most of the CSA VZ 58's I've seen lately come with the mod to the bolt carrier to prevent the dreaded "Gremlin".

Other than different Stocking options, the only other main difference is in how the safety operates. On the VZ858, the tail of the safety faces the shooter in the firing position, and is pushed downward and forward from the rear to engage Safe. The VZ58 has the tail facing forward in the firing position, and is pulled downward and back to engage Safe.

The other main difference is the price. The VZ858's were around $700.00 the VZ58's are around $1000.00.

Can you please inform me on this "gremlin" and what does it have to do with the bolt carrier? I'm a recent Vz owner.

If you have a CSA, you have nothing to worry about. CSA fixed those issues from factory. Welded bolt carrier tab and a shim on the sear pin. If you have a CZ produced Vz 58 and you don't have a shim on the sear pin or a welded bolt carrier tab, you may or may not have an issue.
 
Never had the gremlin issue, I've shot about 4000 rounds in my cz858. Seems to be some mystery as to why it affects some cz and not some others.

never had the gremlin and everybody who tryed mine had it ... i think that all because they were holding the trigger thinking that was a machine gun !
 
The difference that matters right now is that owners of some CZ 858s are currently being reamed without lube by a political agenda .
 
Im a recent NR 858 owner with a non affected rifle ('06 model), can anyone tell me if its safe to use it out in the bush? Im afraid of police trying to hassle me and tell me otherwise. Thanks

nope your not safe ,because if something happen they will try to send your rifle to the firearms lab and it will took a while before you get it back if you ever ...

Interesting, you're the first to suggest that may happen. They may ask me to surrender it but theres not a chance Ill be doing that. They'll have to seize it from me if they want it that badly (which they cant).

dont underestime them they can do what ever they want , dont forget you dont have right just privileges ....
