Trying to find one of these but it seems everyone is sold out of them?

Just that time of the year?

Also, Is there any major difference besides tabbed bolt carrier?

Thanks.

CSA have a black finish, come with 2 mags, safety flips forward for fire, synthetic furniture, nicer machining, available in 7.62 and .223. CZ is a little less expensive with non-tabbed carrier, bluish gray finish, bakelite furniture, 4 mags, safety flips to rear for fire. Both are rock solid reliable and well worth it.

had a question about the NR CSA with the telescoping stock 7.62 x 39..... the piece that receives the buffer tube is that part of the whole receiver or can it be switched out for say a folding stock??

yeah, i know that many of the CZ products will be harder to get for the near term because they just scored a huge contract with Greece's government. CZ, putting down civillian riots since 2013....

The fix to the 858 platform gremlin that results in the gun chambering a round while the striker fails to remain in the cocked position. Personally I have no idea what "tabbing" truly refers to. But it fixes the problem that shows up on a fair number of the guns.

It means a piece is welded on to the bolt carrier.

Is this gremlin really THAT common? Or just overblown thanks to the internet?

Overblown.

The "gremlin" is a shooter-induced issue caused by the removal of the auto-sear from the trigger group. There is a disconnector but it is only tapped by the lug on the bottom of the bolt carrier rather than being held down. This lets the shooter release and re-pull the trigger while the bolt is out of battery, if the sear is lowered as the striker lug passes over it then the striker travels forward with the BCG and light strikes the primer. The tab is welded to the underside of the bolt carrier and it holds the disconnector down when the bolt is out of battery so the sear will stay in its up position and catch the striker. When the bolt is nearing full battery the lug on the carrier releases the disconnector allowing the rifle to be fired again. Every VZ-58 without a tabbed carrier or auto-sear (FA only) has the gremlin. It occurs either during very rapid fire and occasionally while slowly squeezing the trigger. To avoid it completely just be a little more deliberate with the trigger. I had it happen twice in over 1000 rds.

I can't seem to find a CZ 858 for sale anywhere. Lots of merchants have them on back order, some saying held up with customs. Kinda frustrating. I really would like to find one!

Did you see the message from Kelly's Sporting Goods? It's 3rd post from the top of this thread. They have stock and they're a CGN sponsor.

The above is from the Kellys Website. IF this incorrect please let me know!

Yes, the CZ 858 is out of stock. We have the wood CSA VZ-58's in stock. If you want a folding stock, we have a CZ folding stock we can switch out for you. The price with the folding stock switched and painted to match the CSA (Black) would be $899.

I will keep this in mind as I am looking for the CZ 858 (price and accessories are a factor).

Thank you for your response!
