CSA VZ-58 NR versus CZ-858

Yes any 30 cal rod will work.

So you have a CSA 58 non restricted 7.62x39????????

or is it a .223??????????

Yes, but will any 30 cal rifle brass BRUSH be OK for the vz58 AND do the male threads on that brush match the female threads of the OEM cleaning rods that come in the standard-issue kit? The kit contains a rather large-diameter supposedly-horse-hair brush and a "jag", but no brass brush, which I thought would be standard-issue in any kit. That's the reason for my query about the brush. I think the pdf manual mentions a "brass brush 931", but it's not on the list of what the cleaning kit contains. It may be something you have to order separately from CSA. (That could be wrong, but if so, why mention such a part and not have it in the kit and not have it available for separate purchase?)

Yes, I have in my hot little hands a CSA VZ58 7.62x39, non-restricted. Unlike the shorter-barrel versions, this one does not have a chrome-line barrel. (This fact is another reason why I'm so interested in a brass brush.)

Here's what the pdf manual says about the cleaing kit:

-Cleaning kit bag 9 is made of strong textile material and is designed to hold all the cleaning accessories as well as needle 95.

-Cleaning rod I 91 is intended for cleaning and lubricating the bore and the cartridge chamber. One end of the upper part of cleaning rod I is provided with a thread to which cleaning rod II or any of the three extensions found in the cleaning kit can be attached. Lower end of cleaning rod I is fitted with plastic handle for better grip and the whole rod is covered with soft plastic sheath to prevent possible damage to the bore or muzzle.

-Cleaning rod II 92 works as an extension of cleaning rod II.

-Brush 93 is used for cleaning and oiling the bore, the cartridge chamber and the gas cylinder.

-Copper brush 931 is used to clean very dirty bores, which are hard to clean with regular brush.

-Loop 932 allows the use of cloth to wipe dry, oil and conserve the bore.

-Oil can 94 is a round small vessel for keeping the gun oil. The oil can neck is provided with an internal thread for screwing onto the oil can plug.

-Needle 95 is the only tool used when disassembling the Carbine.

That's the 7.62x39mm cleaning kit I would assume, the 5.56x45mm kit I have is very different. Maybe they just copied the text from the 5.56 kit over to the 7.62 one.

:HR: any brass brush will work with it, if it is a standard thread which means a new (hopefully carbon fiber) rod and any standard brass jag and brush. That is what I use on my non restricted 858 whivh doesnt have a chrome lined bore. I have had 0 (zero, nill, zilch, zippo, NO) problems at any time in the last several years i have owned it. That is why it is a brass brush as it does not scar/mark the bore.

How can a brass brush mar a bore when copper/lead boolits sling thru it at 2000 fps??????????

Only thing is that europe use metric threads so it will not be compatibale with "tipton, outer's or whatever other american made brushes, jags you will use. That is why you will need another rod ($20 max)

My CZ must have been battle tested before I got it cuz it has NEVER done me wrong for anything, ever!!!!!!!!

Only rifles I see that are (mismatched?!?!?!?!) are the fsn's. Especially when it comes to the finish.

Yes the plastic inpregnated wood leaves a lot to be desired. That is why it is all wood for me on all of mine.
(cheap plug)
