Hey all,

I just noticed one of the sponsors has the new mag adapters in stock. I was about to place an order, but decided to check the serial number on my CSA Vz-58 (non-restricted, in 556 caliber) before ordering, just to be sure it would fit. I bought the rifle 2-3 months ago from a site sponsor, so I figured it would probably be a later production and that there was no need to worry. I remember reading that there was only something like 89 CSA Vz-58 rifles in total that were incompatible. What are the odds, right?

Well, what would you know... my first exclamation upon seeing my Vz's serial number was "Well, f*ck a duck!!!" : the serial number is just a few production units short of being in the new "OK for mag adapters" category. Wonderful...

So... does anyone know what are the exact mods required to modify the "pre-mag adapter" Vz-58's in order to have them accept the new mod? I already have a few LAR mags bought specifically for that purpose, as I would've never thought I'd be one of the lucky ones with one of the first 89 production rifles. Is this something that can be done with a precision file or does the receiver require actual CNC work/milling?

Thanks in advance... a picture comparison of the two receivers would be greatly appreciated, so that there could at least be a visual representation of what we're up against (as I'm sure I'm not the only one with this issue).

Well, I completely missed this thread... don't know how (I looked), but I did miss it somehow. I only found it after creating a new one :

Seems like it answers my question regarding the DIY process with a precision file (in short, it's a no go). Let's see what CSA can figure out as far as their "customer-friendly" solution is concerned. If they actually get a machine shop to do it and pay for the mod, that would be awesome. The Vz will be sent off as soon as more info is received... and I hope they get someone reputable like Wolverine to coordinate this procedure, because sending a rifle off to a machine shop that generally deals in non-gun related stuff is kind of a concern (for a few reasons).

Thanks scianna54 for the info! Much appreciated!

:)

From the e-mail received by the OP of previous thread:

Please, give me a few more days. We are right now talking to one large machine shop in Canada who could possibly do the modification for us. This way we could centralize the modification and CSA would also pay for it, which would make a whole thing lot easier for you guys - our customers. We should know all on Monday. I am 99% sure we will find a good, customer friendly solution. All you guys would have to do would be to ship your rifles to the machine shop.

Seems pretty straight forward... as for "not forcing to upgrade", it is NOT an upgrade; when I bought this rifle, I already had plans to put the promised adapter on it as soon as it comes out. In other words, nothing was mentioned (at the time) that certain rifles would be incompatible. If it was, I would've never bought it in the first place.

:slap:

Luckily, it seems like CSA is a solid company and can recognize/correct their mistake, which scores brownie points with customers... unlike some other manufacturers who may claim that "no one is forcing you to upgrade".

WOW, i really hope CSA steps up and does this for the few that need it (hopefully it is only a few). I dont have enough good things to say about this company, already have 4 7.62x39 rifles/carbines/pistol versions and may buy some more just cuz!!!!!!
