Hello all. Just picked up a CSA VZ 58 with the 7.5 inch barrel in 7.62x39. Went out to the range today to try her out and discovered it will NOT feed. The round starts out of the mag and the bullet tip runs smack dab into the bottom edge of the barrel. It does this with 3 different mags and 2 kinds of factory FMJ ammo. It looks like there is a little "feed ramp" machined into the receiver that is not lifting the tip of the bullet up far enough to enter the chamber. Anyone else have this problem? Thoughts? Thanks.

No problems with mine, The only thing is if you ride the charging handle when you load the first round it will get hung up. I've just been using Czech surplus FMJ's

This happens on my 858 with the non-restricted barrel length too, With Polish, Ukrainian, Chinese, Czech and Russian surplus. Happens a lot when I take new shooters out to try the rifle, I've found that just pulling the cocking handle back a little bit and letting go will chamber the stuck round.

Now, on topic. Does it not feed at all, like ever? I know you've tried thee mags, but all I can suggest is putting a round in the chamber, closing the bolt and then inserting an empty mag. Fire the round. If the bolt doesn't lock back, your mags are f**ked. If it does, maybe it's the ammo. I've never fired factory ammo through my CZ, I don't know too many people who do. I don't imagine it should cause problems like this, though. If there's a problem with this ramp thing, you may have to send it back. The rifle should feed with no issues.

Sometimes works one or two rounds out of five. I tried bulling the bolt back and letting it slam ahead to try and convince the stubborn ones. A couple times it did coax it to chamber, most often though it just shoves the bullet way back into the case.

I see looking at my 5.56 CSA that the bottom edge of the chamber is beveled to make shells feed smoother. There is no bevel on my 7.62x39 chamber, should there be?

I'm afraid I don't know. I'm hardly an expert, If something stops working I can basically do immediate action and basic troubleshooting, and if that doesn't work I usually go "Yup it's ####ed." and come here for help!

I'm surprised the guru's haven't chimed in yet, we can keep trying to bump this thread until someone notices it.

I know that there has been some issues with failures to load with the B&T magwell adapters designed to allow the use of RobArms 10 round XCR pistol mags in the CZ rifles in 7.62x39mm. Speculation was the fed ramps might be the problem. Waiting to see how this is resolved.

Anyone hear anything?

if you are talking about a bevel right in front of the mag and just behind the chamber then yes mine has a little bevel to it. Not very much but there is a little one.
Please take a pic of yours for a better comparison

I have never had any malfunctions with the compact, yours might be a defect and if that is the case I would contact North Sylva and have them warranty it for you.

No, I am talking about the bottom edge of the chamber itself. I've had a couple of the CZ's in 7.62x39 but they worked well and I never looked at them that close.
