CSA Vz58 compact 7.62 vs 5.56

This guy seems to be saying (at 2 min 10 sec) that if the rifling twist is not fast enoug the bullet will be ok for very short distances but will start key holing soon after. http://www.atactv.com/video/571/Product-Review-Tula-Krink

I am on a crap connection right now and the video won't load for me. Bullet stability doesn't work like that, it is at its lowest stability level as it leaves the muzzle. This is because the destabilizing force is proportional to forward velocity while the stabilizing force is proportional to the rotational velocity of the bullet. Forward velocity decays much faster than rotational velocity, so the bullet gets more and more stable as it flies and loses velocity.

The only thing I can think of is he is referring to marginally stable bullets that may print clean holes up close (less than 25yds, say), then start tumbling soon after that. This is a case of an unstable projectile, it just takes a short distance before the instability can actually cause it to start tumbling.

i have the csa "shorty" in 7.62 with the 7.5" barrell i find accuracy great(at shorter ranges....not really the gun for far), balance excellent, and with my burris fastfire forward mounted sight, i can easily co-witness my iron sights thru the red-dot... short forward grip (long grip interferes with mag changes) and custom magpul side rails.......its simply the coolest looking gun i have ever seen for the price...i love it.... it is my toy :)

only problem with the 7.5" barrell is flash (absolutly HUGE) and concussion (thump yer head bad)........i'm gonna buy a muzzle brake/fake suppressor from grizzly gunworks.....that should clear up all the flash, totally reduce concussion....and look awesome :)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oplxrf9sN34 here a guy tests different flash hiders. Dlask is the best eliminates the fire ball, but the hider is huge. As for the rcoil, i really don't understand, one group of people tells me that recoil is not a problem at all, and the other tells me it is huge. I too found the balance of 7.5 to be excelent, this is what made me chose it over 12".

why would you need to shoot that little thing out to 200m????

100yards it is decent, but if you plan on shooting it out further the go with the carbine/restricted rifle version

Because it would be fun as hell.
Even though I own an 11.75, it would be awesome to put some tracers through the 7.5 in 7.62 and watch the trajectory. Not very practical I guess, but that's not the point for me personally.

The reason i wanted to shoot out to 200 is because I always like to know the limits of a gun so i like pushing it as far as i can, but tracers sound fun too :)

I have one in 7.62 and I LOVES IT.

a few things

I didn't even consider the 5.56 version because;
a) they don't have chrome lined bores (not really a big deal),
b) 7.62 is soooooooooooooooo cheap
c) the 5.56 mags look like #### and are harder to come by than the more abundant and durable 7.62 mags

If your buying this to make shots beyond 50 yards your going to need a good optic because the factory sights are ####. They are too close together. I rarely shoot mine at distances over 50 yards simply because thats not what this gun was designed to do. It is not intended to be a precision weapon, its designed to deploy fast from a cramped environment and shoot 6" groups at 50 yards.

As for the flame, it is legendary.

If you disagree with my post well then flame on:

yes...thats why i don't own a 5.56.......all parts are interchangeable, mags, boltcarriers....everything

some mags might be a little tight....too much paint.....put em in/out a bunch of times...remove..look for scratches on mag....lightly belt sand...and away you go :)
