I got a .223 one, 1000s of rounds through it, had it for a few years now. Not a single failure. I use the orignal plastic mags, work perfectly fine. I feel more confident in it, then my AR or any other firearm I have.
They're a group of 3 small stores in different towns/cities on Vancouver Island. Their supplier is Inland Pacific Distributors LTD who are CZ importers.

do you have a Tavor? I'm interested in a comparison.

Oh! I do! I do! Pick me!
The Tavor is better balanced, has less available upgrades, but also needs less upgrades. Its easier to mount optics on, but twice as expensive.
The Vz in .223 can be converted to accept AR-15 magazines, and optics, and all kinds of other fun stuff. They're a project that you can build out.
With a Tavor: all you really need is optics and ammo.
Wanna see some size comparisons?
You end up with a different shooting style between them of course. Vz58s are built like a traditional rifle so you can magwell grip, straight arm grip, or costa-monkey-claw if you so desire.
Tavors . . . well you hold them like a Tavor . . .
7.5" Vz58 next to an 18.5" Tavor

You really need to shoot Chinese surplus ammo with the same optics ( or lack of ) with your hunting rifles to make a fair comparison.I just bought one with the 18.6" barrel a couple of weeks ago. Love the way it feels, even though I think it is a slight bit front heavy. Had it out to the range last week and all my shots at 100 yds were about 10-12 inches too high with a grouping of around 8 inches. I was using Norinco surplus 5.56, 55gr. I don't know if this is normal for the gun, but I am disappointed in the initial testing. My hunting rifles get a grouping of less than 2 inches when I shoot them the same way. I bought it after hearing that these guns were excellent, but that must have been the 7.62x39 version. I have to head out to the range this weekend with my sandbags and try it again to see what is really going on. Has anybody else had any similar issues with inaccuracy with their VZ58, .223's?
TVPP,
What kind of stock is that on the 7.5" Vz58? Is it easier to close?
Thanks
