So I got a chance to shoot my new CSA VZ58 Carbine (11.5") yesterday.
It's my first Red rifle and I absolutely love it! It shoot great, fits me well and the cost of ammo is very reasonable.
My only concern is that I had to stop shooting it at 100rnds(I brought 500) because the lower hand guard was getting so hot(even with gloves on) I thought it was going to melt!

Question: Is there a heat shield or fix for the stock polymer lower guard?
I like the looks of the stock grips so I'm not interested in the offerings from NEA or BC Tactical.
Any thoughts would be appreciated....

I don't believe there's an existing mod for the stock factory polymer hanguard...have you tried switching grip to cup the mag when this happens?

Tin foil ;)
Not only works for making hats but also for deflecting the heat if you place it in the void between the barrel and the the lower polymer handguard.

did you have 20 5rders to get it that hot?

FTW...It was suggested I try some header wrap tape. Off to CanTire's I go!
Thanks Matt and to everyone who responded.
