Everyone says 7.62x39 is useless after 100 and to use .223 but i had my doubts. Not much knock down power at 400 but it works. Tried 200, 300 and up to 400 yards. Uploaded the 400+ yard video using surplus ammo and irons.

Its was pretty hard considering I could barley see the plate but im pretty impressed with its capability to reach that far. Think someone with more experience should try it out and post their results.

Go to 5 min if you don't wanna watch the drive out there.

300 yards was much more succesfull the vido is still uploading.

I can hardly see the 400 yard plate lol yet alone 600. 500 yards may be my next go if i can angle myself that I can actually see it.

I only use Irons but its possible I wouldnt call shooting at 600m the best accuracy tho but its possible can hit consitently depending on the winds. I shoot offhand tho my better shots come when I laying prone against a log or using the magazine as a Monopod

To reach zero at 400 yards the bullet will have a rise of almost 2ft (22 inches) at around 220 yard mark. When zeroed at 400 yards, the bullet will drop 16 inches at 450yds and more than 3feet (38 inches) at 500 yards.

From the video it looks like you had a consistent sight error that landed bullet about two feet to the right of the plate. In other words, if the plate had been two feet to the right, there may have been more hits, keeping everything else the same. At that distance irons would make it hard to make that kind of correction, even if you have eagle perfect eyesight. Scope in the near future?

We shot the AK's out to 585m (maximum the range would allowe).
While we didn't hit as reliably as with the Stgw90 or the AR15 due to the more curved ballistics, we would hit the targets often enough.

I'd say 2 to 3 times out of 5. As compared to 3-4 times out of 5 with the Stgw90 with the Hensoldt scope.

Nice shooting!
