I always enjoy the wholesale sports rants various members post on here, although up until last month my experience with that store has been excellent. Things went south for me at the new WS store so I decided to cut out and hit CanadianTire on the way out of the city. I arrive to discover that a couple of Norma Canada's reps are helping to man the gun counter. Not believing my good luck I order some 282 gr oryx (9.3x62) for my rapidly approaching Turkey opener with a side of Spring bear. Both the Norma reps and the Canadian Tire staff assured me the ammo would be arrive in 5-6 days. Hell, they were making all sorts of claims and I got pretty excited once I looked through the NC stock list. I plunked down my cash and left. Y'all know the rest of the story.

"Where's my ammo?"
"I don't know? Let me get right back to you."
"Hey, how come nobody called me back?"
"I'll look right into it sir."
"Is someone looking into this, it's been 3 weeks?"
"I seem to remember something, let me call you back."

Their(Norma Canada's) price is the same I get when the boys @ Italian mail out to me. Of course the boys @ Italian ship when they say they are going to. Personally I would have had no problem if they(Norma) had simply said; "can't do it in a week."

NORMA CANADA; don't let your mouth write checks that your ass can't cash.
 
I'm not sure who you refer to by "Norma Canada". Up until recently the Norma ammunition and components (not powder) was distributed by FN Sports out of Quebec. If in fact there now is a new company distributing the Norma product we are unaware of them as they have never identified themselves to us or made any contact. Previous Norma orders through FN Sports have been very difficault and slow. Some common calibers were in stock but the harder to find European calibers in ammo and brass have been special order only with fairly large minimums and very long waiting times. The Norma brand as good as it is is not very well known in North America (to the average shooters) and has been very slow in sales in the wholesale and retail market in Canada. Phil.
 
Norma......Canadian Tire????.....what kind of Can. Tire store you got there? At our Can. Tire they would think that Norma is the name of a cashier.

What is this factory loaded stuff?
We can build you much better ammo right here at home.
Suprisingly enough the 270gr Speer's we loaded up hold together better than the factory Norma stuff does too!
All this for 1/3 the price of the Norma.
I guess this will make for more brass to be stored at my house tho! LOL

I have 286gr Partitions if you want to use them too!

I think you've nailed it with FN. Norma Canada was my title as they claimed to be the exclusive reps.

Well I knew I could always bug you Noel and I still have 50+ rounds of Vulcan but I guess it's the survivalist in me that feels very uncomfortable if I don't have atleast 100 rounds(each) for any and all the irons here. Also the Sauer loves those 282's so it was a slightly less punishing day at the range I had in mind.

We have the largest CT store of them all, with a new and improved sporting section, but they still won't stock components or premium ammo.:rolleyes:

That would be the southland store owned by a mr. Dand, an avid hunter and collector himself. His son owns a similar set up in Red Deer. At the Calgary store you can even buy high end European optics, they stock Tikka as well as Remington and yes even Savage. There's sometimes good deals on the used guns as well. Some of the counter staff are quite knowledgeable. I won't buy their tires though.
