Hey Guys;

This elk is a disaster waiting to happen... With it being so bold, do you think it could be "re-educated" or should it simply be "harvested" & served at the next shooting sports function??? (Personally, I vote to put that sucker on a plate!!!)

Cheers
Jay

God, you guys are mean!

What you're supposed to do is move the town, evacuate the people, reclaim the soil and let Bambi have his aboriginal rights!

...or, you could just shoot the bastard....:p

that scene was so common in banff a few years ago it wasn't funny- at least these guys had their cars( whatever protection that affords) - the tourists in banff were on foot- i also saw a female in the background- wonder if that had anything to do with
this is probably in a national park in the us where relocation is probably the only option- being in town, probably doubly so

Every year, several tourists get hurt by bull elks in Banff. Sometimes, people also gets killed by grizzlies in the Banff area.

Since there are no hunting in National Parks, there ar no end in sight to these close and dangerous encounter between man and "wildlife" in these "natural, wildlife habitats". (Disneyland-North)

Between the aggressive behaviour and seeing his belly going up and down at one point it must be fall rut. Rubber bullets won't work well on an elk raging with testosterone and there were NO safe shooting angles that I could see so we are down to two choices. Making the insurance companies even richer than they are or darting and relocating. Its a mess.

He looks potentially delicious to me from here.
I've seen Japanese tourists run up to them in Banff to take pictures and then run just as fast back to the bus when the elk have had enough of the photo shoots.
I was in Waterton park last summer in the middle of the village with my kids playing in the lake when a doe mule deer wandered up right beside us and took a drink! All I could think about was how crazy this all was, and how amusing it would be if that deer had any idea what thoughts were going through my head at the moment!
National Parks are really strange in this way.

please show proof of Banff Grizzly kills? and how is hunting going to help? tourist season is june to august and hunting seasons usually run oct-dec?

what needs to happen is only allow smart torists in....

actually i'd be in favor of abolishing the National Parks altogether, right up there with the CBC and Wheat Board as institutions that have outlived their usefulness.....

ide try smacking it with rubber pellets first and than shoot it if that does not work.

when i say shoot it with rubber pellets I mean like fallow it and keep shooting it alot until its out side the town.

Get a Bulldozer.
Dress it up like a bull elk.
Need I explain?

you don't even need to do that- they will charge if you blow your nose, paw the ground with one foot, and bleat at them- in other words , act like a bull in rut- a call works even better - i've done it- brought deer in with a crow call too- did the elk thing in the national park about 6 in the morning , in october, just on the side of the highway- there were 2 of them up on the train tracks, and i wanted a really GOOD picture- well there was only about 3 seconds between the time i did that and they come hell bent for leather down the hill- i was standing BESIDE the car at the time, shooting a long barrel 35mm over the roof-

It is very sad to see a majestic animal reduced to the stupidity of a domestic animal. This is what happens when you add yuppy development and remove properly regulated hunting. Animals become over crowded and lose their fear of man.

My opinion is bulldoze that tourist craphole to the ground. Relocate all the tree hugging yuppies to an Imax theater and let them watch Suzuki films. Then open up the area to properly regulated hunting. A bull that stupid belongs in a freezer. It will just pass on its stupid genes to future populations.

but we'd lose all those japanese tourist dollars and grey goose and brewster would go broke- they used to buy tons of film from the banff businesses, but now not so much with digital cameras
