Cure for the XCR Woes?

How do you like the Ace stock?

It's not called the "Hammer" for nothing. All steel/Aluminum. Toted as being the strongest stock available for the AR. No doubt there. Designed for CQB and Breaching. Not very heavy considering construction, very beefy, very strong. You can lock the position in place, adjustable cheek riser, 4 QD sling points. Can't ask for much more.

No plans for retail at the moment. There's not enough of a market for the XCR, especially for modifications that reclassify it. We did it as a pet project only.

Hey NeitArms, what's the barrel length with your mods? A couple of years ago I was going to buy a used XCR in 5.56, but before buying I called the CFO's office to ask if I was allowed to take it to a gunsmith to have the barrel shortened to 14.5 inches and I was told that was illegal/not allowed, nor was I allowed to buy a 14.5 inch barrel for it.

Correct you have to manufactor or buy a barrel already at the length required that is less than 18.5 inches or aka a restrited by barrel length. Only non-restricted centerfire rifle can be chopped down to 18.5 inches no less or it is a prohib. As far as I can remeber shotguns and rimfire are not the same and only share the overall length must be over 26 inches. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Doesn't matter is it centerfire, rimfire or shotgun, even if the overall length is greater than 660 mm, you can't alter any barrel to be less than 457 mm.

RCMP website said:
The Criminal Code states that a prohibited firearm is:

* a handgun with a barrel length of 105 mm or less;
* a handgun designed or adapted to discharge 25 or 32 calibre ammunition;
* a rifle or shotgun that has been altered to make it less than 660 mm (26 inches) in overall length;
* a rifle or shotgun that has been altered to make the barrel length less than 457 mm (18 inches) where the overall firearm length is 660 mm (26 inches) or more;
* an automatic firearm and a converted automatic firearm;
* any firearm prescribed as prohibited.
