I am curious about the Magnetospeed Chronograph and would love to hear if anyone has experience with it. Specfically, I am curious if attaching the chronograph changes the point of impact. I would suspect so.

I think it would be great to avoid: 1) the possibility of shooting one's chronograph (which I have read of people doing), 2) poor results on overcast days and/or 3) having a piece of brass take out the display. However, if you were doing a Ladder Test and/or a Pressure Test, would it negate your results due to its influence on the harmonics on the barrel?

Thanks

Anything that attaches to, or hangs on, the barrel will affect bullet impact.

How much would depend on the individual rifle/load.

I have chosen to leave the Magnetospeed chronograph in the vendor's possession.
You have to decide for yourself, though.

Regards, Dave.

I've been interested in the Magnetospeed for quite a while, and I suspect I'll probably eventually buy one.

So, now that I've admitted I can offer no first-hand knowledge (yup - I've officially become a Subject Matter Expert via the internet...), I've read a number of posts on various sites indicating that attaching 'bayonet' to the barrel does move the POI upwards, but the good news is that it gets shifted by a fairly consistent amount (consistent for a given combo of rifle and ammo, at least).

If this is true, then I would expect that you would still be able to do ladder testing and pressure testing with it attached, killing two birds with one set of loads. YMMV.

If you do buy one, please post what you experience.
