Scopes are complicated, with wide array of selection. What would you recommend to buy as your very first scope learning to hit steel from 50-100yds? Mag? Size?

What size targets are you expecting to encounter?
Dynamic tactical steel or liesurely shooting steel, standing? Bench?
That will help on what to suggest.

Riton 6-24 x 55. It makes 100 yards so easy; and with the zero stop and a 40 MOA rail it can be dialed up well past 300 yards. Great quality for a bargain price.

Im not familiar with PRS in the 22 realm.
If i was in the market for a scope that provided good optics and great value for those ranges, I thinknit would be hard to look past the Arken EPL-4 4-16.

I was moving stuff around and put that scope on my cz457 match in MDT XRS over a year ago.

It was meant to be temporary but it is quite happy there out to 300 yards.

Does 50-100 yds count as prs? Lol
It is Precsion rimfire series. not long range rimfire. You just use smaller targets. Remember not all clubs have 200 plus M ranges. West of Halifax it is all 100 yard. Only got 3 ranges that are over 100 yard. All pretty much central. And only seems like 1 host PRS matches.

Id like to see you come to an ORPS shoot with iron sights. Id find your name really quickly. BOTTOM OF THE LIST. As suggested get a FFP scope with parallax adjustment. Just my opoinion but buy something that can reach farther cuz thatll be your next step!!
Who cares about what they place. They are not you. It's all about having fun.

Have no idea what an ORPS shoot is. I would still shoot it with irons. Shooting is like golf. You only compete against yourself.

Most run 3-18 or 5-25 as far as magnification with 30 or 34 mm tubes and objectives go from 44-56mm. Your budjet will decide what you buy but the EE has lots of options than will allow more bang for yer buck. Make sure the parallax can be focused close like 25yards or closer. Try going to a match. People are friendly and will let you look thru their optics. Great learning experience.
