Curious question about factory vs custom rifles ...

The cost of a truely custom tactical rifle is in my income level, "Retarded"!

I have and shoot a "FACTORY" rifle out to around 2000yards. With for the most part, MOA precision.

Do I NEED such a highly specialised custom rifle?........ NO!

BUT, "WiLL" I build one?....................WHEN I can Afford to, you friggin bet!!!

Its all about satisfaction/inner peace of mind in this game of life. And I plan on enjoying every luxury I can afford to have without hurting/jeprodizing my families financial security.

I had a father who saved his pennies for the rainy day. When he turned 73, he was in the middle of the "worst storm" of his life! He never survived that storm! So what good did saving his pennies do?! Not much more than leaving his HARD EARNED money behind.

My son, who is 3 years old is going to have allot of precision rifles at his finger tips when he gets older! (hopefully he likes shootin like his old man)! I will teach/instruct/encourage his shooting background as much as he likes.

Enjoy yourselves my fellow Gunnutz! I know I will do my best! 

you dont need to justify your spendning to us. we're not going to tell you yes or no.

but i am curious about your "factory" rifle which you've shot out to 2000yds with MOA accuracy.. tell us more

My example:

Wichita 1375 action, LH bolt, LH port
Krieger custom stainless steel 30inch barrel
"Canoe paddle" custom thumbhole stock
Swenson Precision sights, front and rear

Quality products are not inexpensive and are often worth every single penny invested.

Hello Fenix:

The rifle I was referring to is a Savage 110BA in 300 Win Mag. Now just to be clear, I cant/never claimed to be able to shoot this rifle consistantly under 1MOA at 2000. I should have more correctly said 1900yards.
I have been shooting this Rifle a fair Bit over the last few years. Not as much as I would like mind you! Lol!
To be exactly honest, I have shot this rifle to 1900 yards. I wanted something terrible to break the 2000 mark last year!!!
With things that life throws you, i just couldnt find the time to dedicate for this task! This spring should see me doing it!

I have been using the Berger 210VLD in front of R22. Seated .060" off the rifling.

I have posted groups at 1760 before on this site, and I will
Again As Soon as the oportunity arrises. I have shot maybe 20 or more groups at 1760, and most average between 15-18".(in near percect conditions). I have had a few that outright stunned me! And others that left me wishing I had more talent!
Here is a thread that I started my first day shooting out to 1760:

I am planning to stretch the 230gr. Berger Hybrids out past 1760 this year. They shoot like a dream! I managed two decent groups the other week at 1000yds. (6 & 7.5") I really look forward to really stretching the 230's out when my shooting area thaws out.
I have shot at a 1 mile shoot two years ago with some gunnutters that invited me.
TIGGER (Hugh) is the gentelmans name. Great guy, and really fun shoot!

Impressive and of course, its a Savage!

As far as custom rifles go...the last time I checked you could easily mod a Savage 10 (action, barrel, stock, trigger) for under 1000. You'd have to be thrifty with sourcing your parts but there's lots of info out there. ;)
