Current BC LTATT wait time

Forgot to say, good for 4 years 2 months. I think I depends when your birthday is and when the month you apply for it.

Just did a transfer July 24th.

BOTH transfer AND STATT arrived August 8th. This is nice because they seem to be now including a temp ATT without even asking for one. Never had this happen before but a nice touch I think.

So, leaving out the weekends and 1 day for BC day long weekend, time to my door after phone in is now only:

10 days.

I applied for my LTATT 2 weeks ago. Just got of the phone with a BC CFO (extension 9530), she said that the backlog is being reduced, and that mine could be ready within 2 weeks. It only took being on hold for 3 minutes!

my PAL was received Mirimichi May 17. I've been calling every week and have consistently been told that the BC CFO is backlogged. After seeing some posters receiving approval in a shorter time I decided to ask a few more questions and managed to get through to the office of the CFO. A very nice lady said the backlog info was accurate and they are processing PALs from late April and early May right now. She works for the Alberta office and is temporarily assisting the BC office get out from under their backlog.

She did say she flagged my application for immediate review. Hopefully that makes a difference. When I mailed that sucker in early May I never thought I'd be in a rush to get my gun sighted in before hunting season.

This is very strange. I'm in BC, and my RPAL was received in Mirimichi on June 4th. I received my RPAL in the mail July 13th.

Unless something in your background check flagged you for a more in-depth check that has to be done provincially, something isn't adding up.

LTATTs, on the other hand, are definitely backed up in BC.

I just received my LTATT!

Applied on July 17, approved August 8th.

This was my first LTATT.

I got my STATT and LTATT 2 weeks ago after 5 weeks of processing. Nice to be able to take my handguns home after all that time, but still waiting for my registration certificates to come in the mail so I can actually shoot them at the range :(

at first she said there must have been a problem with the application then, after she read it, she said there was a big backlog. but she flagged it for immediate processing and told me to check tomorrow. i wonder if i just fell between the cracks or maybe the work is split between a few reviewers and some work quickly but some work slowly.

maybe i got the slow line?

anyway, hopefully it happens tomorrow. then i just have to wait for them to mail the damn thing.

I'm going to be going through this in about a week...fingers crossed RPAL is in my mailbox next week..

After you got your RPAL..did you send your LTATT application first..then purchase...then apply for a STATT ?

It's confusing what to do next..

thanks

Apply for your LTATT as soon as you have your PAL number. If the status online is "issued" then you should be able to phone in and get your number.

You can purchase a restricted before the LTATT is approved, but the transfer won't be approved until the LTATT is.

If you are buying from a (decent) store, then when they initiate the transfer, they'll also apply for the STATT.

I specifically called in to ask about this. I was told that the transfer papers would be sufficient. I even had the person I was speaking to double check with her supervisor. That said, they would not give it to me in writing; (I asked for an email). She said that ultimately it was up to the local police if they were going to insist on the actual registration certificate and suggested that I contact my local police to confirm their policy.

I got a STATT and LTATT In 3 hours yesterday . for both me an my wife and they changed our home address all in one call . Yes I know it's not a new license or anything but it was quick .

It's specified on page 3 of my LTATT. It may be just a technicality, but I'm not going to risk it with my new toys.

I bought some guns at Reliable soon after I got my RPAL and Herman helped me fill out and send in both the LTATT and STATT forms. I could have sent in the LTATT application form first, but it was only a a couple of days anyhow. You can send in your LTATT yourself or your gun club may help you with that.

It seems that your first restricted purchase will follow the timeline of the application of your first LTATT. I got my first STATT the same day my LTATT was approved. That took nearly 5 weeks, which was a private sale.

My second took 5 calendar days, which was a purchase from TradeEx. My gun and registration card arrived the same day.

Does anybody have the current phone number and extension for the BC CFO, the number I was using today said the office was closed. Called numerous times during the day
