Hi guys, trying to find the current going price range for a DCRA Lee Enfield No4, and not finding anything despite my web search efforts. Anybody bought one recently?
I've seen them listed for $650 to $1250. One in the EE at the latter at present.
All sorts of rifles were converted - basically the DCRA member could send in whatever rifle he had, and if it was sound, it would be rebarrelled. Then, as the rules changed, the rifles got altered, sometimes dramatically, in an effort to get them to shoot better. Somewhere I have a DCRA newsletter detailing bedding experiments made in an effort to get the 7.62s to shoot well.
That's pretty helpful, thanks. See, after seeing a few offered recently (here and elsewhere), I was wondering why, apparently, prices were almost all over the place - considering that from one DCRA No4 to the next, there are significant differences that affect value.
So now I find myself wondering. What would be considered an "intact" one? Is there such a thing or is this a concept that would not apply to this family of Lee Enfields?
I got mine at Gunco. $500 about two years ago. It was on consignment. The previous owner brought it in to have it sporterized. Claven2 was at his usual haunt and convinced him to sell it instead and buy a new rifle. (Thanks Claven2 ).
Anyhow, I looked at it one week, thought to myself, hmmm, $500. Nice price of Canadian history but I can buy a lot of beer with $500.
After a week of, I should have bought that going through my head, I went in and bought it.
It shoots like a dream.
I won't be selling mine. It is part of the "core" collection.
There is apparently one at the Brandon gunshow this weekend with an asking price of $450. If you have to add a PH5C rear sight and a sterling mag, you are possibly looking at another $350 or so, and a bit of searching.
I sold mine 2 tears, opps Years(yeah, I miss it) ago for $800 with the PH 5C and a sterling mag. I say a good honest price is $600 - $800 range. Any more than that it better be perfect...
I have bought a bunch of no.4 LE 7.62 this year from $250.00 full wood without target sight and has the regular mag. the highest I have paid for a DCRA no.4 full wood 7.62 with target sight and 7.62 mag /with spare mag $750 SHIPPED. I bought a bunch 7.62 LE from a fellow with target sights with front peeps. $700 each and they are really nice.
Keep in mind that a 7.62 magazine has nothing to do with the rifles as originally set up. All very well for someone wanting a repeater nowadays, but the rifles were originally intended for single shot prone target shooting.
I sold one on this site, DCRA #, 7.62 mm no target sight or converted mag for 450 bucks which is about the going rate. Add 150+ for each a 7.62 mag and a PH5C target sight.
