Current Manufacture Mauser 98 Sporting Arms?

you might want to look at the Montana rifles. They appear to be derived from the 98 with a C ring. Many features of the 98 plus a few of the pre 64 model 70, like the shroud safety and trigger with a model 70 footprint and using model bases. A very slick action.

and an innovative approach to creating a coned barrel face.

... I think the "C" torque shoulder on the action is one of the "unseen" strengths of the M98 and is an important way of making the distinction .. I consider the ZKK and the Montana actions to be truer adherents to the design strengths of PP Mauser than some others - and it requires just that little extra effort that companies like FN and Santa Barbera couldn't be troubled with. Just my 2 cents

Yeah, "C" ring commercial 98's are few and far between.
Have here a commercial full left side rail FN actioned Husqvarna in 8x57 with "C" ring. Postwar '40's production. They made very few of these before switching their broaches to "H" ring to lower production costs.

Agree AP, "C" is the way Paul Mauser intended his actions to be. Better gas handling in the event of case failure it seems to me.
And yes, my BRNO602 is full "C" ring as well.

Yes better control of gas ... improved strength and also larger surface area to bring the face of the barrel up against. Done properly it ensured a tight/stable barrel to action fit and apparently offered greater likelihood that a replacement barrel would head space properly without machining in a field expedient situation. One of the many small design strengths of this amazing action.
That is VERY interesting about your Husqvarna!!

Do the new Winchester 70's have this 'C' shoulder?
don't know - but next time you examine one take a small flashlight with you. If you remove the bolt and look towards the face of the barrel you will quickly see if there's a collar and how it's designed - I think not - certainly not on a Remington which simply uses the face of the action and a shoulder on the barrel, surface area is smaller even with the recoil 'washer' between the two.

My custom is built on a postwar 40's (1948) FN commercial M98 action with solid receiver rail and C-type broach cut inner reveiver ring. It doesn't get any better than that. The Brno 21's are another fine M98-type action built without compromise.

Indeed, it does not. ^
So you've got one too?!. The holy grail of sporting actions IMO.

Mine has been waiting patiently for longer than a large dog's age for the appropriate build solution, have been all over the map with this one ... no decision yet in sight.

Already have here my FN Supreme in 6.5/06, and have here my commercial FN '98 Husqvarna 9.3x62.

What to do with the apogee of them all, my 'C' ring ..?

My gut's are pulling towards 6.5x55 ... so strong is the love for that one.

My custom FN (small-ring) 98 is in 7x57. However, I am having a semi-custom built from a Danish M58 in 6.5x55. The original heavy target stock (European Beachwood) has an incredible grain pattern, so I am having it completely refinished. All metal is getting bead blased, parkertized, and Arma-coated, and it's getting a nice Timney trigger, amoungst other things. It should be quite the shooter! Now I need to buy some 6.5x55 dies :)

I believe Wolverine Supply is the Canadian agent got Westly Richard 98 Mausers?
There is also a company in Germany that make high end true 98 Mausers (Pletchet ?) $3-5K per action .
