After seeing how incredible the BattleComp is on a friend's AR, I think I might want something similar for my 19" 858. I don't care much about recoil reduction necessarily, but something that helps to control the muzzle rise - If you haven't seen a demo of the BattleComp, look it up, it's literally amazing.

So my question to you folks: For the 858, what works well that is currently available? Or, if it's not readily available but works really well, what is worth watching the EE for?

Thanks in advance!

One of the best brakes we've ever used actually comes straight from the factory. You'll see lots of the shorty Vz's come with one of these in the box:

We sell them for $55 new, but you can often find them on the EE for $30 or so.

On short barrels these can produce a lot of fire, but do quite a bit for recoil. Not fun to stand beside, but what compensator is?

These are a step up, with the same design of one large port in the front, but with even more smaller ports along the body.

These units are awesome with muzzle rise. We sell them for $95, but I don't know what they go for on the EE.

Note that these won't fit American Vz2003's from Century arms. I guess their barrels are different?

These are the top of the line, think of them as like the triple-tap of Vz58 rifles.

That beauty is $319 and we don't sell them often. But they are the best performer on these kinds of rifles.

They're made of heat treated carbon steel with a black finish and are great for muzzle rise and recoil without the flash enhancement of other brakes.

Anyone who tells you their device will do flash suppression and braking is usually overselling something. ;) But these do not add flash in the way that most brakes do.

That's a basic rundown of our three main compensators!

But there are lots of options for the Vz platform. Dlask has some great units, and NEA used to make a bunch of interesting Vz brakes too. Pretty sure SFRC is the best place to find NEA stuff now. Maybe Chemist has some advice?

Can you tell us what is the difference? Which one combats muzzle rise better? Thanks.

The one with the top slits and round side ports definitely affects muzzle rise more. In fact, on a 19" barrel and straight M4 style stock, actually pushes the barrel downward in recoil.
The other, with the double side ports, greatly reduces felt recoil and nicely tames rise. (See above video)

Czech Military brakes work great. It's almost like they were designed for the rifle, in fact...

I think I'd like to try one. These come with the CSA rifles, correct? If anyone has one for sale or available to borrow in the Calgary area, please PM me.

Thanks everyone, more input welcome...

I got the cone type from corwin-arms a week or so ago but have not shot with it yet. It it looks BADASS on the rifle.I have shot with the factory one from Zahal [ top of page ] and it works great. cheers!

Thanks, I'm going to install it on the Fab Defence folding recoil reducing stock. Which do you think is better (I want nearest to zero muzzle rise/fall)? Thanks.

Hmm...
The first one looks like the model Dlask first came out with and the other model looks like the early version that the Czech's had before they adopted the new model that Marstar, Zahal and Wolverine all sell.
I tried them all and like Stevo state the OEM one is the best unless you got the shorty than the XB1 is the golden ticket. but I got to say the 2 stage Armalite brake bored out and re-threaded for this rig is the golden meal ticket.
