Good optics, mechanically reliable and robust. Very good value for money.

I have several old steel bodied made-in-the-U.S.A. Weavers: K4s (4x32mm, if I recall correctly, K2.5s (2.5x20mm), Micro-Trac variables (1.5-4x20mm,) and one of the current production (made in Japan, fully-multicoated optics, aluminum alloy) Classic V9 (3-9x38mm) models. I bought all of them used for very reasonable prices and they all work as they should.

Yes - Good scopes in the day, I have several. Not sure if the lens coatings are comparable to current fashion. Also, any scope of that age will likely have lost its nitrogen purge.

The new ones, i.e. current production, are one-piece alloy tubes, fully multi-coated lenses, made in Japan. The scope companies don't go to Japan to have stuff made as cheap as China, they go there to have them made better. The current production Weavers aren't the best scopes you can get, but they are properly built and good value.

I'll re-iterate: Based on my experience with a current production 3-9x variable from their Classic range, I'd buy one of the current production K4s or K6s if I wanted another fixed scope in 4x or 6x. The only reason I don't is I have enough of the old made-in-U.S.A. K4s still working.
