Okay, I don't want to start any flame wars here, just simple analytical responses. Are there any gunsmiths in Canada capable of building a 1911 that can rival some of the better US guns in terms of reliability, machining and matching of parts and more importantly customer service. I have been fighting the 1911 itch since selling my SA Professional model but I think it is a losing battle. Before we begin...Dlask is NOT an option.

Cape custom guns does amazing work 1911's seem to be their specialty, they are located in Vancouver.
Dlask is horrible, I agree.

Try Bits of Pieces, I'm sure they can do a terrific 1911, God knows Barry has enough time on 1911's. (and that's without leaving the Lower Mainland) I don't know if Gunnar's doing full customs any more, then there's Roger (Dark Intl) in Ontario. If Gunnar's not doing them any more my money would be on Barry.

Geez, there goes that hankering for a coffee ice cream in a waffle cone again...

In all seriousness, I never get tired of seeing that beauty. A 'smith that can do that to a 1911 would get my work in a heart beat.

Phone Dave at Cape Custom here in Vancouver. Best 1911's I've ever seen and best GS I've met. Dave is a perfectionist and knows them inside out. He'll make you whatever you want. PM for his phone number. Be prepared to wait a long time but it's worth it.
