Hi everyone, I would like to share my custom .25-06 that is finally together.

The rifle consists of a 22 1/2" #3 sporter contour SS McGowan barrel that was chambered, threaded, fit and cut by Dennis Sorensen. The muzzle is cut with an eleven degree target crown and the finish is bead blasted to a matte finish. It sits in a McMillan Edge stock that was inletted, glass bedded and floated by Dennis as well. I used a Weatherby Vanguard action that is fitted with a Timney trigger set at a crisp 3 pounds. The scope is a Swarovski Z3 3-10x42mm with the plex reticle. It sits in 1" standard Leupold rings and bases.

I would like to thank all who helped in making this possible.

Dennis Sorensen for amazing gunsmith work and fast service.
Jerry at Mystic Precision for providing the McGowan barrel and excellent support/service.
Omer at plainSight Solutions for giving me a great deal and service on the scope.

I cannot wait to load up some of Marshal Ambrose's (AKA Matrix Ballistics) 125gr flat base bullets to see what this rifle is capable of.

I hope you guys like it as much as I do. It sits at a scoped weight of 8lbs 6ozs.

Well I have a story to tell you how fast DRS is.
He told me on Thursday my rifle was ready, and it arrived via Canada Post on Friday . . . Like how did he get one day service?
Accolades like good and fast really does not do the man justice especially when he performs like an olympian.

Looks good, but I gotta ask, why the short bbl for a 25-06? Was the Vanguard a rifle you had or did you specifically choose the Howa action?

Good question on the shorter barrel. After great discussion with Jerry at Mystic Precision and Dennis Sorensen we came up with a compromise that involved a barrel length that would suit my hunting needs considering my location and terrain. I realize I may or may not get maximum velocity but the shorter barrel is more practical. Hopefully I get lucky and it is a fast barrel to begin with.
The Vanguard action is from a rifle that I had sitting in my safe. It uses metric threads but Dennis had no problems with it.

Nice rifle, Dennis does great work.

What twist did you go with to be able to shoot the heavy weight bullets like that?

It is a 1 in 10 twist. I don't think it will be a problem with the 125's. I think my powder choice is gonna be the biggest factor. I am starting off with Retumbo.

Well I can say I am not a huge fan of the vanguard action - but - you chose well. Great components and great smiths = job well done. Gun should shoot like a hot damn and you will be a happy camper.

Personally I think if you chose the right smith and great components no matter how long it takes to come up with the money you will never be unhappy with the turnout of a custom rifle. Quality cost money but can we put a price on dissapointment?

Great job!

i like that rifle .my tikka has a 20 inch barrel.excellent for hunting in thick bush .mine seems to like the berger 115 grain bullet .

Nice rig. Dennis knows how to run a reamer and put it all together so it will shoot. Those Z3's look good and have the best emblems for sure.
