We don't see enough wood anymore everything is to plastic now, I think you have a fine rifle there capable of of giving great accuracy.
My 308's like about 47gr of varget with 155's and 45 with 180's I think you will likely tighten up with a bit more but you will be the judge of that.

I had this reamer made for .060 freebore so the chamber is built for 155's. I have a few hundred 168's that need to be gone, so started with them... with the break-in, I now have fireformed the lapua brass.
And need to add thanks to Hardened Steel for saving that Sako stock all those years so he couold sell it to me for this build.

Newb question, researching a rebarrel on an old Tikka, why 1:12 twist, I thought 1:10 was the way to go?
By the way, very impressed with the the rifle
Thanks

.308 doesnt have the case capacity to warrant using the "heavies" so for the bullets one will likely use 1:11 or 1:12 is ideal. IMO.

1:12 will stabilze everything up to 180 gr with ease --- and unless you are going very long distance (which would also likely benefit from a very long barrel improve muzzle velocity) -- not much point IMO if you are going with a shorter barrel like mine. Many believe that not overdoing the twist rate mimizes the effect of torque.

I think I saw this on the bench at Ian's and it caught my eye then. If it's the rifle I'm thinking of the wood work he did to fill in around the DBM was just about perfect.

Very nice rig you've got there.

Yes, must have been this one --- Ian is truly "the man" :) ... His work rates 10/10. Hardened Steel - sorry, I won't be selling the stock back to you:)

Ditto on the 155 Scenars. Have loaded them in a very similar handload for my Wichita target rifle. Some pretty scary small groups at 300 meters and it's very precise peep sights. A big confidence builder for sure.

Edit: That's a very nice rifle JEC, and obviously a great shooter!

What a sleeper.

At first glance it looks like a Sako - OK, a nice, refined European rifle that'll almost certainly shoot quite nicely. Thanks, and next. Not that there's anything wrong with a lovely Sako that shoots well, but they are common enough that's there's nothing terribly interesting about just another nice rifle.

Whereas in fact it's a full blown target rifle in plain view (and a repeater to boot).

Very nicely done.
