53.2-2841
53.4-2821
53.6-2833
53.8-2859
54.0-2866
54.2-2895
54.4-2894 seemed to be fairly close, so ill start at 54.2 with some 3 shot groups

55.2-2961

55.8-2991

I also tried the 143gr ELD-X with R26 starting with 54.0gr up to 56.0grs no pressure signs at 56grs

56.0-2978,2979,error .75" group

Gary made the Mag box 3" , I tried some dummy rounds at 3" and they hung up on the ejection port so I'm restricted to 2.9" COAL, they fit the mag box and cycle and eject smoothly, factory ammo is 2.880 and it shoots well so I can live with the 2.90 COAL.

I loaded up some 140gr AB with 52gr R19 and got 2830 and the same in 143gr ELD-X 2812

130gr AB with R19
52.0gr-2820
52.5gr-2860
53.0gr-2920

130gr AB with R26
53.0gr 2794,2796,2797
53.5gr 2848,2856,error
54.0gr 2897,2904,2903

I've a bit of experience with the 6.5 is similar case capacity with a long mag box (6.5 RM) and found H4831sc to be stellar and likely worth your while. In a 24" barrel 57gr and a BR2 primer I've got close to 3000fps with .5moa accuracy out to 500m. The ES is very low at 7fps.

Your build and results look great!

Thank you and thanks for the info, once I’m back from hunting I’ll pick up some H4831sc and give it a whirl.

That extra .100" in C.O.L is just enough to get the bullet ogive out of the case mouth, thats all thats needed. Even with bullets seated deep, the 284 case still has plenty of powder capacity. I think you made the right choice sticking with a short action.

what brand of stock did u use? the rifle looks great

Thank you, Thats the factory Kimber Montana Stock just altered and painted, thats the great thing about a Kimber Montana, they have an excellent CF stock which is easy to alter, one of the best fully adjustable triggers made and an all stainless CRF action, add a good Barrel and you have a poor mans fully custom rifle !
