What are the options for either Canadian Made actions or ones that are imported readily, something I wouldn't have to special order through somebody if there is no importer in Canada. I'm researching something in a Long action .338 lapua/edge tactical/hunting style, not benchrest.

I see Robertson Composites bring in Barnard, but the look of them isn't very appealing to me.

For the price of a custom action you could buy a Remington 700P in 338 Lapua. Burn the tube out practicing and getting used to the recoil. Buy and install a decent match grade tube and your off to the races.
As far as a Canadian made action, only a couple of makers here. One is too busy with Canadian military contracts to bother with retail and the other is just too.............. to bother answering emails regarding the availabilty and price of their actions.
Robertson has Stiller actions in stock along with Barnard. Alberta Tactical is working on their own action but still not yet available. Soon from what I've heard. Rick can also bring in custom actions. It all takes time unless someone has something in stock. Then all it takes is a deep pocket with cash in it.
Sure makes the 700P in 338 Lapua sound like a good start.
Good luck in your search and keep us posted as to your progress.

RMR does not make actions. They are made for them by Borden Actions.
I was on an action search this spring and dropped in to see what they had in stock.
I did buy a Stiller Viper action from them that was special ordered and not picked up. Never saw any Borden/RMR actions as they had none in stock. A nice PGW Lapua sized action {$4500} could have been had there as well.

My mistake, RMR doesn't actually manufacture an action, but they do market one that wears their name.Just as Browning and Weatherby market rifles that they don't actually manufacture.

Remington 338 Lapuas are not being imported into Canada anymore. If you can find one, buy it.

I would pass judgement on the Barnard after trying one. They are one fine action and they are built very very well.

For what you're looking for, a little patience on the action from ATRS is all that is required, in the mean time however, get your name on a barrel instock, McMillan A5 probably instock jewel trigger, scopes we'll always have in stock, and reloading dies. If the stock has to be ordered, we're looking a brobably getting the actions in just before the stock shows up which would be perfect timing.

I have a Nesika right hand repeater action that is set up to be either a Magnum or RUM based caliber. 300 Edge is balistically on par with 338 Lapua, just less expensive components here in stock, and a couple more Nesika tactical M actions that should be here in about 6 weeks.
Or our own actions should start to be available late November .
