Custom AR15 Build

Going with a XH from HeavyBuffer! Lol Is this what shoe shopping feels like for women? Cause if it is I get it now :D
Clint at HeavyBuffers is super quick on the emails, three in the last two hours and I got a hundred questions in each

What did he have to say about the weights in the XH.

I was thinking about getting an HSS from them for my DI uppers cause they like 6.0oz, but my Piston likes 5.0ish, and I'd rather not have to tweek it between range sessions.

Yeah, no such a thing as SBR's here really. Not officially. I call our 11.5's an SBR as to give them a name. Other then that, our laws are actually a bit looser when it comes to that kind of thing.

XH is 8.5 but the tungsten weights are 1.4 x 3 (4.2) so the buffer must weigh 4.3 empty which is a standard. He also has steel at .5 and Delrin which are .1 and act as spacers. You can get any weight you want too if you email him. Very knowledgable and fast responses. I'm impressed and that takes a lot lol.

And now I'm thinking of the Ambi Rainier Arms Charging Handle. Looks and functions great. Haven't heard bad things at all about it.

Oh, ok, cool.

You could get the XH, pull the Tungsten out and get 5.8oz which is perfect,
Then, put the 3 tungstens in your standard carbine buffer and get 5.2oz to heavy up your NEA.

Not too familiar with that charge handle. I only ever use my left hand so no need for ambi here.

If you're looking for something to further spiff up your AR, try a 45 degree ambi selector.
You have to file off or remove the extra pin it has to fit your lower, but once you do, it makes switching easier.

If you got a custom Motiuk lower, and they have not made it yet, you can request engravings to accommodate the 45 degree selector.

The safety selector is barely used on my AR. I would only need it if slinging it while loaded which isn't a possibility with our laws. I'm a believer in my finger is the safety when loaded. Also I never hand loaded firearms to another at the range or point it anywhere but down range when loaded, I also don't trust safeties. I can see the pros to the 45 through, just wouldn't use it.

And that's kinda what I had planned for the buffers, that way my NEA won't shoot brass every direction... As much. And for those wondering my NEA is great. Hasn't blown up like so many think will happen. I don't shoot for accuarcy with it so don't know MOA. 200 rounds so far and they've all hit where I aimed, 50 shots at 5 inch circles at 100 yards all on target (don't know how good that is lol) but serves my purposes. MFS 55gr FMJ steel case ammo only

Your NEA shoots brass in every direction ? Yeah, that could be a sign that your timing is inconsistent.

Yeah, I don't use my safety much either, not much call for it in sterile target shooting.

Not everywhere but ranges from 2-4 o'clock. After I add the extra weight to the buffer it should help.
And yeah when pointing down range the paper doesn't feel any safer with the flip of a selector :D

An empty firearm is safe. At no other time should it be considered safe when a projectile designed for it is chambered. That's my rule, it's worked so far. If you disagree with the way I operate then meet me at a range and watch me shoot.

Just got my spike's Nickle boron bcg

Did you get this on the EE? I was wanting to take it but Questar said it should only be 10 weeks till I get my Enhanced LPK and NiB BCG from Spikes
Every picture I see of that BCG if different, what color is it? lol

No I bought it new from a retailer, they are sold out tho.
It is grey color. And it was kinda dark in the room.

The picture on the questar website of this bcg is way too shiny and light in color.
The guy from EE was asking for $450... Which is insane price.

Parts list looks pretty sweet! can't wait to see it all together.

Like some others have said a complete rifle would prob cost about the same but a build will help you understand the inner workings of the platform a lot better. Good luck and be sure and post pics one your done.
