Custom barrel 338fed for m14

Is that 13" right? What use is a 13" rifle? It over the 26"? Just curious.
If you're going to go with a .338 Fed, buy as much brass as you can afford too. The assorted manufacturer's marketing types think nothing of discontinuing stuff with no regard for their existing customers. Be horrific if you spent that huge pile of money on a barrel only to find you can't get ammo or brass.

Or he can just turn readily available .308 Win brass into .338 Fed brass. Even if factory ammo and .338 Fed brass dries up there is still a supply of brass (which can be converted) and bullets.

13" barrel on the bolt action 26" over all to keep it NR I need it to be short so next time I roll my Rokon I won't be put out of action
I don't think it will be all that bad reforming 308 brass it will give me a reason to learn to reload haahaa

Awesome projects. I put an order on a custom 16" barrel for my Savage, I ended up going .358 Win though (thought long and hard about the .338fed, but I like the idea of loading cheap pistol bullets for plinking and small game while big game hunting). Shouldn't be hard to form the brass, I've been sizing .358 brass out of my stash of .308 with little issue. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread for sure though! I may need to get back into the M14 again.

I think That would be a great idea if you much your M14 with your 358win you already have that would make a wicked Hunting pear can't see how you could go wrong with that combo

Just for giggle a 375 jaguar (375-308) if one handloads this will be an ultimate stopper in bear country.

I know the 308 is more than capable to take bears but for one who wants the something big and to talk about at the hunt camp during camp fire its something to consider.

That would be a very interesting project if somebody makes one I want to shoot it haahaa

Yes I want to build one as well and according to the person who invented this wildcat it does not have any shoulder issue on the cartridge and has slightly more case capacity than the 358 due to shorter bullets for the weight and duplicate the ballistic of
9.3 x 57 pushing a 270gr out the muzzle at just under 2200 fps.

More info can be find at the link below:

What really set this project in motion was I was looking for sumone to manufacture a 12" barrel for AIA Enfielde chambered in7.2x39
When I came across Herronarms web site I notice they were advertising custom barrels for the m14
I called Tom and ask if he ever had dealings with them after that I forgot all about my Enfield haahaa
I'm still going to put a 12" barrel on the Enfield but for now that will be a later project sometimes I don't take very much for me to get sidetracked sometimes LOL

Yeah, I don't blame you because I am too have several projects working on and got sidetracked as well.

I have yet to finish my modified pistol grip usgi stock and it's been over a year now if you ask Tom he should remember seeing pics of a partially amputated stock I sent to him a while ago.

I hope the 375-308 won't cause you losing few nights of sleep now(lol).

I'm sticking with the 338fed but the 378-08 does sound like fun
Now that I've had my eye surgery I think I will just stick with iron sights for the M14 maybe go with a nice wooden stock just a plain classic with a little bit of a surprise at the end lol
The bolt action will need a reflex sight and synthetic stock I think

After hearing about the mossberg MPV using m14 mags I'm going to wait for them to com in before I start SBR part Of this project

Still going to build a 338fed M14 just not starting the SBR till the new MPV get hear
Just makes sense to have both rifles in the same caliber and using the same magazines
