Hi,

I was wondering if anyone here might be able to recommend a shop or someone that could build something like this:

bfg50logo.jpg

I love the utilitarian look and simplicity of the design but I don't want to buy it in .50 cal because I don't think my brain or wallet could take the abuse of that caliber ;)

However I think in a .270 or 300 win mag it would be incredibly fun to shoot.

Any advice would be mucho appreciated.

Cheers!

I've been thinking about building myself a tube gun, all stainless, maybe next winter if time allows.

Don't know where you'd go for a 1 off, most shops won't touch anything without drawings. Maybe a gunsmith with enough equipment would be willing to take it on but it does cost a premium to do 1 off stuff, more so if its gotta be designed as it goes.

If I were you, I would get it built in .308 Winchester or a 6.5mm of some sort. .270 doesn't have much of a target bullet selection.

Thanks very much for the advice!

I kinda figured a 1 off would be pricey but it never hurts to ask, you never know who has a machine shop and wild imagination...lol.

Alberta tactical rifle supply looks like they have some amazing rifles, I like that they also have some used ones on there. I also did a little more searching and found http://www.tubegun.net/ which looks like a route I may pursue, still lots of research to do.

I'm shooting a Swedish 6.5x55 right now and thought I might branch out from that, it's an awesome caliber. 308 is good call though I always forget about bullet options being a big factor in selecting a target round because I don't currently reload but would like to after I get posted next year.

Since you are in Borden and want to see a bunch of different precision rifles, take a drive out to Amiens Range on Saturday.

Tube guns you have to glue the action in to the stock which I didn't find very appealing. Gary Eliseo at gotxring.com is the same idea but you can change it out down the line.

my $0.02

Call Sean at North Shore Barrels, he has done a couple of tube guns in the past. I am pretty sure if you can dream it, he can build it!

I am on my third build from him and a fourth is in the works as we speak.
