Is there a wait time to get a 1911 from Dlask?

Hi Matt,

I have been corresponding with Josef at Dlask and he advised me 60 days on mine if he had all the parts in stock, unfortunately for me I will have to wait until the new year as he is out of stainless frames. I wanted a new 1911 Pro with stainless frame, blued slide and a bull , bushingless barrel in 10 mm.

I will advise you not to customize the Colt. Too much work, many changes, and big bill. It is not easy (even to gunsmiths) to add beavertails to old pistols. Many hours of work.

You'd be better off selling it and paying a little more to get the perfect 1911 you want.

I agree totally with this statement. Buying the gun the way you want it in the first place, saves you a whole lot of money.

Have obtained two 45s from Josef Dlask. One was a Colt Government Model IV in slide & frame dramatically modified along with ambi safety, Bo-Mar sights, beautifully checkerered front & back, Long trigger with 2.5 lbs pull, large mag well, Dlask's own trigger, hammer & so many other things, best of walnut grips, Nolan bbl, & lord knows what else. Not easy to field strip.

So asked if he would build me another with some of my desires & we ended up with STS Slide, Caspain frame & Dlask suggested Bailey bbl to be breathed on as the prior model. So six months later it was finished & works like a charm.

In both cases it was money well spent. Feel I will have to send back one as I have put a maze of reloads through---just so he can look it over & make any suggestions. It is a bit like having a hot trotting sportbike & after a few yrs let the dealer/tuner have it back to go over it.
