Custom Built Snider What's Your Honest Opinion

A friend of mine had a 577 Snider dropped off at my house for him this week and it's nothing like I have ever run across before.

It was built by G. A. Spencer but don't lnow when.
The action looks like is a MkII, and is marked Snider Patent.
The lock is marked Tower over 1875.
The barrel is 1 1/8" from flat to flat, 34 1/4" long, and the overall length is
56". It weighs about 15 or more pounds.

Here are some of the pictures I took of the gun. I placed a Savage 12 gage Model 311 next to it for comparison. The Savage has 28" barrels and the overall length is 44".
I don't think he will shoot it off hand, what do you think?

I love it did he stick to the 577 cal. I had one built on a martini action in 577snider .

What caliber? Have you shot it yet? What is the provenance? Certainly not made that way....how long ago was the work done? I have a couple of rifles here which could benefit from a treatment like that.

Snider

The gun is in 577 Snider. I don't know what kind of wood was used but it did produce a nice stock.
I don't know how it shoots but it should be a tack driver.

Snider Target Rifle Is Now Mine

The guy that I picked up the big Snider took a fancy to some of my toys and traded the Snider to me today.
Can't wait to shoot it.
