Hello all. I decided instead of buying another mdt chassis for my savage id try to build one myself.
My question is about attaching the rifle to the stock via the action screws. How much other support is needed for the action ? Just enough forward and back that it cant move or should i build in pillars and supports front center and rear?
Calibers will be 22lr and 17mach2. My goal is to be able to easily swap between factory stocks and the abomination that im building
Of course if all else fails ill just buy another chassis.

put in your pillars, glass bed the action and first inch or two of the barrel and free float the rest of the forend. If the stock is solid and true to the receiver, receiver to the barrel and a clean cut chamber the rest will take care of itself

Savage got a round action, measure the diameter of the action, 45 degree v block is need to set up so the action can sit on it. you need to measure and draw out your action before starting the work, I did about a dozen or so in the pass, the first one will take the longest up to 2 weeks, but now it take days to semi finish one, not very difficult, you have to like to solve problem. my photo bucket is dead, but I can send you some info if you wish.
