We just got in some walnut blanks 'English' from some very old trees. Looking to make a couple into Cooper custom classics. Not sure if the photos here will show how spectacular they are. Nothing on them so they will darken a lot when the oil fish is applied. We can't wauit to see how they turn:

I'd better start saving my pennies....... again!

LOL; I'm a sucker for fine walnut too! :( One might end up in my safe. Top blank is going to be a 22 lr, next is a 20 VarTarg, next is a classic(rest are custom classics) 280 AI and bottom is a custom classic 6.5-284.

Beautiful blanks. guess I'm a traditionalist...synthetic just won't do it for me. Sako Vixen Varmint with the old classic straight style stock and wide fore end...I would guess one of those would do! Nice stuff.

:adult: custom classic 6.5-284 :D Please pm with price and expected delivery date. Then I'll call my banker and he'll draw up the documents.:(

Its not really an 'exhibition' blank(bottom one for the 6.5-284) but I like the streaks and the end grain makes me think it will turn nicely. Also, ordered with a 26" barrel.
It was just ordered a short time ago so you have lots of time to refinance! ;)

You sure those are English? They look way too dark - more like black walnut. they are too dark even for claro IMHO, but maybe it's just the pics.

I'm not an expert, and its really confusing; I picked some of the darkest blanks for the first two anyway but most guys list the NZ stuff as Eng it seems. But then, its all the same tree so its really not a science :)
The important thing is, these are old trees and the wood has cured well. Some of the American 'claro' is from very young trees and is not very dense.

I have to ask a dumb question here. Can you get these or other blanks cut to fit X Bolt Browning rifles? And if so who does this and how much?
Thanks in advance.

you would have to get a custom stock maker or send them to browning if they would accept(doubtful)
Cooper will accept blanks from its dealers. This is our first bunch but we get a lot from Pat's Luxus made using supplied blanks.
