So I've miss placed my little green killer coyote call and got to thinking that it needs replaced. I'm a bit of a gear snob and junkie so I'm thinking a nice hand made call is the ticket. I'd rather call coyotes with some thing that looks good is well made and is made by some one who is good at what they do.

Who is making some good call in canada right now? Would prefer some thing made of antler and it has to be an open reed call.

Check out the thread posted above.

If you want an antler call Brad Gainey makes some awesome calls. They are not cheap ($55-$300) but they are awesome, antler tone boards with wood barrels, all the way up to full ivory calls.

He doesn't make calls on demand anymore so it may be a wait.

Here is mine from Brad, this is an example of the cheapest call he makes:

Carver also makes great calls for a great price, but no antler.

You can get some really interesting cheep calls at the dollar store. Party favour horns, rubber animals that squeak and squeal. Dog toys that have squeakers in them.

If you have a dog, anything that makes its head snap around to you and gets him all excited will work on a coyote or fox.

Or you can pay a lot for a fancy handmade squeaky thing.

You could whistle on a blade of grass to if you wanted too. Some people like to use nice things when they are doing stuff they enjoy. Some people like to see how succsesful they can be with something absurdly cheap, or with something that was never intended to be used that way. Nothing wrong with either thing, but judging from the OPs post I think he falls into the first group. I don't think he'll be heading to the dollar store anytime soon.

Be very careful with custom made game calls, they are easy to collect and it's very addictive lol! You raise a good point about Canadian made predator calls, with the sport growing in popularity, I don't understand why there's not more custom call makers on this side of the border?

Coyote calls

Roy Gerath at blacktailcustomdesigns.com is making Yote calls again out of cherry wood, but he's well...custom, sooo...
Drop him a line. He's also a sponsor of Wolftracker.ca .

Check out Carver Calls. I bought his "strictly buisiness" set, and they are phenomenal. Called in a double from easily 500 yards with the coaxer last week... called in 4 more from about a 1/2 mile with the closed reed distress this week. I paid $45 shipped for 5 calls.

I'm thinking of getting that set to try. A lot of bang for the $$$

My set showed up two weeks ago. Tried them out last Saturday on a few set but the wind picked up. Got side tracked looking for horn at first light.

That pack from carver is a steal of a deal.

I was out with my Carver's last week and had a nice yote run at me after calling for about 15 seconds. They work real good!
