Custom coyote calls

I have a few spots picked out that I am going to try.

No snow in one area with lots of open grassy area, the other is a ways up and has snow but lots of rabbit and dog tracks in the area.

Bought a Knight + Hale howler on sale at WSS the other day as well as a Primos Lil' Dog while I wait for the Carvers to arrive and finding the howls hardest to do. Will take much practice to perfect I am sure, that being said, I did get long distance Coyote to howl back last night so it must have been good from afar. LOL

You'll find that carver call wayyyyy easier to use. I also have a little dog, but lets just say I see its future collecting dust.
 
I do ok with the Lil Dog. But I never did get the hang of the Hot Dog. Think it's well-named actually; when I blew on it the tone would always crack at a certain point and it kinda sounded like a chihuahua #####-in-heat getting the business from a Rottweiler. (or at least what I imagined that would sound like)

I just got a couple of nice custom horn-tip howlers from a guy down south and am itchin to get out and try them. Gonna look up this Carver site soon...
 
^^ I hear ya.......the only thing keeping me from ordering is the fact that Carver's web site is down until Dec 5. Good news is that there is no additional shipping to Canada :)
 
Those are some nice looking calls. Varmint Al's website has some info on calling with examples of the different sounds you can listen to or download to make a CD for listening to in the vehicle on the way to work and driving people crazy. Link
 
Got my calls today and they're AWESOME. Amazing grain and definition on them. I'll let you know how they work in the field once I get out again.

And its true, they're the easiest calls to blow by far! I'll get some pics up over the next couple days hopefully
 
Ordered mine the day after you did. Hopefully mine get here tomorrow.

I don't usually have much luck with shipments from the US (always seem to get kicked into the "open me and charge the poor sap for doing so" pile)
 
You may or may not get taxed (I have been taxed on expensive and inexpensive items bought from the US and vice versa on not being taxed) but no duty will be applied.
 
no shipping and no tax was added to mine! what was on the website was what i paid. checking the postage stamps, it was shipped not the next day, but the following. considering i ordered them at 630pm on the 23rd, and it was in the mail the morning of the 25th, all i can think is that the whole deal is simply AWESOME!
 
it'll just make them even prettier when you unpack them.
i emailed carver today telling him i got the calls and was impressed. he replied right away as with all previous correspondence so i have no doubt he sent them when promised as he is without doubt caring of his clients. he seems to have pretty good customer service skills.

I have no doubt he sent them when he said he would, which would have been the same day as yours went out since he mentioned getting them out "tomorrow" after I ordered which would have been the 25th

I just expect they will get molestered by some slob at the border and then they will charge me $5 for 1' of Yellow tape.

The more I blow on that Knight & Hale Mega Howler the more it starts to sound like a Party Favour at a kids birthday, even my wife says it sounds nothing like a Coyote....LOL........she asked if it was some kind of wounded deer call when she first heard it. :slap:
