Here's a beautiful highly polished one piece pup howler. Its about 5 1/2 inches long and is toned female/pup. I've attached a few pics as well as a sound clip.

From Brian Meyer, here's a nice open reed made from concinna burl with a stainless steel band, the toneboard is made from handcrafted african blackwood.

They are certainly cheaper than a nice rifle, but I bet you have bought enough to buy a very nice Cooper.

I am thinking a Carver howler would make a great xmas present for my father, but I know pretty much zip about calling, besides being pretty, are they really practical?

Yes, it is night and day in comparison to the plastic stuff you buy in stores. I would say that would make a very nice and unique gift for sure(providing he likes coyote hunting).

lol I know he has always wanted a handmade call, but just never really spent the money on himself, he is a pretty modest guy.
I emailed Kerry at Carvers, he got back to me right after, and I am getting him one that is even initialed.

Getting it initialed is a nice touch, he will love it
and whats great about Kerry is that he will spend time on the phone with you if you need help using his calls.

Just got this lovely cow horn and antler distress call, the fit and finish is amazing, lots of work went into that one.

Glad you guys found some of the best call makers on the market. You should travel south and meet them at the annual Predator Masters hunt. It's been a few years since I have gone but its a good time.
